The Switcheroo Series: Alexisonfire vs. Moneen is an EP released by the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire and alternative rock band Moneen. It is the first release in the Switcheroo series from Dine Alone Records. In the United States, Moneen's label, Vagrant Records, released the split EP on November 22, 2005, but titled the release "Alexisonfire/Moneen Split", this was because The Switcharoo Series is an EP series by Dine Alone Records, not Vagrant Records. Nine months after the US release of the split EP, Alexisonfire released Crisis on Vagrant Records, after completing contract terms with former United States label Equal Vision Records.
This album featured Alexisonfire covering two songs originally by Moneen and vice versa. The bands also contributed an original track. This CD is the first to feature new Alexisonfire drummer Jordan Hastings, who replaced original drummer Jesse Ingelevics.
[edit] Burning Down the Pine Room
Sometimes this record is referred to as "The Switcheroo Series: Burning Down The Pine Room", or simply "Switcheroo". The "Burning Down The Pine Room" reference comes from a show Moneen played at an Oakville Ontario venue called the Pine Room, where they set off fireworks mounted on the necks of their guitars. The venue quickly filled with smoke and the fire department showed up in full force. As a result the the venue refused to let shows be held at that location, because, as rumour had it, "Moneen burned down the Pine Room."
