Eighteen years later, the song was revived by teen singer Aaliyah, and became a charted hit reaching number six on the pop singles chart and number two on the R&B singles chart though reaching number twenty-seven in the UK pop charts. In of all the artists who covered the song, her version was the most successful.

It became another Aaliyah successful hit.Peaking number six on Billboard Hot 100, number four in ARC Weekly Top 40 for two weeks and number two on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.It was unsuccessful outside the US, peaking number twenty-seven on UK Singles Chart, number fifty-six on ARIA Australia and number thirty on Irish Singles Chart.
