Aydınoğlu
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Anatolian Turkish Beylik of Aydınoğlu with its capital in Aydın (named after the dynasty) was one of the frontier principalities established by Oghuz Turkish clans after the decline of Anatolian Seljuk Sultanate.
The actual Turkish province of Aydın (vilayet in Ottoman times) used to cover a larger area including İzmir (the seat of the province had been moved to İzmir in 1864 although it kept the same name) till the early years of the Republic of Turkey.
