Due to some legal issues with the presentation of the list of Alternativa Sociale, Basilicata did not vote along with the other Italian regions in the Italian Regional Elections, April 3 and 4, 2005, but a couple of weeks later instead, on April 17 and April 18, 2005. The Union's success, with beyond 2/3 of the votes, was the largest in Italy.
