Talk:Bass (Mega Man)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
now, just one second, the top of this page says bass's name is pronunced base. has this been verified yet? the most logical explaination would be that bass(as in the fish) is the correct canon name due to megaman 8 and megaman NT warrior and the "base" name is only due to unproven logic.(69.142.127.230 02:31, 29 April 2006 (UTC))
There are two very good pieces of evidence to support this. First of all, a lot of the Japanese names (Rock, Roll, Gospel, Blues) are musical styles, including Bass' Jap name, Forte. Furthermore, his dog is called Treble. What more proof could there be than Bass and Treble? User: Drake Clawfang, April 27 2006. 8:47 PM EST.

- The logic especially holds when you consider the poor track record the dubbing teams at Capcom have. In X4, Zero misprounounces the word "coup," and throughout both Mega Man X4 and Mega Man 8, the characters have stilted, awkward grammar. I wouldn't trust Capcom's translation skills. I can't speak to the NT Warrior show, but they do call "FireMan" "TorchMan"... But maybe they do deserve some credit. --Evan L. Kester 13:36, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
I understand all of that, however without actual proof, we can't exactly state that "base" is his canon name. like I said before, this has not been verified so we can't just put words in capcom's mouth. [also bass EXE was a more important character in the N.T series, so if they changed his name in the N.T series that would cause much confusion.](69.142.127.230 02:31, 29 April 2006 (UTC))
You're arguing a moot point. Pretty much everyone accepts it as Bass. Again, Bass and Treble. His name is 'base'. C'mon, why else would they name the dog Treble? There's like, a .01 percent of you being right. User: Drake Clawfang, April 28, 2006. 6:00 PM, EST
still, if it was not officialy proven, it is not a solid fact. plus, I'm not saying that the fish name is is the canon name either. it has the exact same chance of being right as "base", but I just think it's "bass" in my opinion. and wikipedia is not the place for orgional research as stated here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:No_original_research (69.142.127.230 02:38, 29 April 2006 (UTC))
Dude, It is Base. MegaMan 8 really screwed up the name by calling him Bass. I agree with Evan up there that NT Warrior does deserve some credit. Now if you really use some of your mind power...or whatever you have. Bass is a fish right? Fish and Treble. Now how weird does that sound. It is definate you will not get anyone esle to agree iwth you. It is Bass(Base) and Treble. SpikeyZ 5:48, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
for the last time, forget what I said about the fish being the logical explaination, there is no actual proof of bass being called "base" yet it does seem like a logical explaination because of the pattern of musical names.I'm just saying we cant say if its bass or base without confirmed proof.(69.142.127.230 01:40, 16 May 2006 (UTC))
In Mega Man 8, during an FMV sequence, Mega Man audibly yells "BASS!" and it is pronounced as a musical term ("base"). 216.75.134.186 13:19, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
I think I would know how to pronounce the name of the character im named after, the only people who pronounces his name like the fish are people new to the character, give me a good reason why I should believe his name is pronounced bass and not base, no you can't, of course you can't give a good reason, it just wouldn't make logical sense to pronounce his name as the fish. I removed the sentance "*Bass is extremely stronger then Mega Man" from the "Trivia" section. The grammar is incorrect, and it reflects an opinion anyway.
"Secret Origins" This section is very unclear, and most of the stuff seems made up. For instance, the name 'Kid Zap', when searched for on Google in conjunction with 'Megaman' or 'Elec Man' finds nothing. I'm removing the section, just write here if you object for some reason.
[edit] Under the helmet
It says that the game over screen in Mega Man and Bass proves Bass can take it off, how do we know for a fact he can take it off? Maybe Bass just got vaporised out from under the helmet and only the helmet was left. (Yes, yes, I am aware that seemed sarcastic but the point must be made.) BassxForte 03:59, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
