Bournemouth University is a university in and around the town of Bournemouth, (although its main campus is actually situated in neighbouring Poole). It has several very well respected departments including the Media School, [2] recognised as the only Centre for Excellence in Media Practice [3].
As a university well known for its focus on professional courses, Bournemouth regards research as a vital component for underpinning a high-quality curriculum and for maximising the University's contribution to the regional and national economies. The University has a variety of specialist research groups including The Market Research Group. [4] The university's heraldic motto is Discere Mutari Est (To Learn is to Change).

Talbot Campus is situated in Poole, on the boundary with Bournemouth. It is where the main university buildings are located, including the student's union and the main library. There is also a doctors surgery, Dylans and D2 bars, student refectory, Uni shop, Waterstones and Endsleigh Insurance situated on campus.
Lansdowne Campus is in the heart of Bournemouth town centre, with the university buildings spread out along Christchurch Road. Unlike Talbot, Lansdowne is not a self-contained campus.
