British Rail Class 302
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The British Rail Class 302 was a type of Electric Multiple Unit introduced onto British Rail in the late 1950s. The class were 4-car units and used throughout their working lives on the London-Tilbury-Shoeburyness route. The class have all now been withdrawn and replaced by Class 317 and Class 357 units. Two driving trailers are preserved at Mangapps Farm Railway Museum near Burnham-On-Crouch, Essex, the two driving trailer carriages belonged to units 302 201 and 302 227. These units are still in very good condition with the destination scrolls still in working order, the seats are still in British Rail colours and the Network South East maps are still in very good condition. The rest of the fleet has been scrapped since withdrawal in late 1999.
