Camp Lazlo is an Emmy nominated, American animated television series created by Joe Murray, produced by Cartoon Network Studios and currently airs on Cartoon Network. The show features a Boy Scout-like summer camp with a cast of all animal characters, along with a "retro" type of humor and silliness which is akin to Murray's previous series, Rocko's Modern Life (which aired on Nickelodeon a decade earlier).

[edit] Description
The show focuses on the wacky adventures of the Brazilian spider-monkey named Lazlo and his friends Raj, the elephant and Clam, the albino pygmy rhino. The three embark on events that later end up into trouble. Each episode is split into two parts approximately 11 minutes long. With the exception of two episodes.
Carlos Alazraqui, Tom Kenny and Doug Lawrence, who did much of the voice work on Rocko's Modern Life, provide lead voices in this show as well, along with veteran voice actors like Jeff Bennett, Jodi Benson, Kenny's wife and Mr. Show co-star Jill Talley, and Alazraqui's Reno 911! co-star and first time voice acting, Steve Little.
Camp Lazlo premiered on July 8, 2005 with episodes on Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT in the USA; as of June 26, 2006, the show airs Monday through Friday at 6:30 PM US ET/PT. In Canada, Teletoon's English channel also debuted the show June 26, 2006; but in the last week of August, it was pulled from TELETOON, for reasons still unknown.

[edit] Pulcinella Awards
The series won three 2006 Pulcinella Awards for Best Animated Series for Children and Best Animated Series for all ages and Lazlo was the winner of Best Character at the 10th Cartoons By The Bay Festival in Positano, Italy.[1] It was the second consecutive year that a Cartoon Network series won the latter two awards, as the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends character, Blooregard Q. Kazoo, won the award the year before.
[edit] Emmy Awards
"Hello Dolly / Over Cooked Beans" was nominated for an Emmy in the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming less than One Hour) category, but was defeated by The Simpsons. The episode has been hosted on the Cartoon Network website and can be viewed here.
[edit] Annie Awards
Sue Mondt, a production designer on Camp Lazlo, was nominated an Annie Award for production design on the episode "Hard Days Samson."[2]
[edit] Video Game
A Game Boy Advance game called "Camp Lazlo: Leaky Lake Games" was released in December 1, 2006.
[edit] Camp Lazlo on DVD
The only Camp Lazlo-only DVD is included on the Camp Lazlo Press Kit, which was given away as a promo item for the show before it aired. It contained file sheets of the show and a DVD with four episode (2 half-hour episodes): "Gone Fishin' (Sort Of) /Bean Are From Mars" & "Parasitic Pal/It's No Picnic". This item can only be acquired through someone sells it through eBay, which are rare. If lucky, you might acquire the Press Kit, DVD & a shirt as an extra.
Although Camp Lazlo does not have its own DVD (except the press kit), 2 episodes have appeared on Cartoon Network themed DVDs. Hello Dolly appeared on the Cartoon Network Fridays - Volume 1 DVD, released on September 19, 2006. Snow Beans, a winter-themed episode of the show, was released on the Cartoon Network Christmas: Volume Three DVD on October 3, 2006. [1]

- Bean scouts rhymes with Bean sprouts
[edit] Trivia
- In the opening theme, Lazlo, Raj and Clam all get down from the bus but in the special premiere movie, Lazlo got off from a fruit delivering van.
- In the Spanish version for Latin America, Slinkman is called "Banano", because he is a Banana slug, and Clam is called "Rino" because he is a rhino.
- All the background music from Camp Lazlo came from My Gym Partner's a Monkey, Spongebob Squarepants and The Ren & Stimpy Show.
