I just donated $10 of my hard-earned money to support wikipedia. Cause there is nothing greater then free knowledge...and I found out about userboxes :)

[edit] What I've Done For Wikipedia
- Donated a total sum of $10 (hey it's something)
- Helped spread the word througout my college (Belmont Abbey College about the value of wikipedia
- Convinced a complete anti-technology teacher (she doesn't even have a TV...) that wikipedia is even more trustworthy then Britannica through an email...
I found an interesting article on Slashdot.com here:
http://science.slashdot.org/science/05/12/15/1352207.shtml?tid=95&tid=14
that said "Nature magazine recently conducted a head-to-head competition
between Wikipedia and Britannica, having experts compare 42
science-related articles. The result was that Wikipedia had about 4
errors per article, while Britannica had about 3. However, a pair of
endevouring Wikipedians dug a little deeper and discovered that the
Wikipedia articles in the sample were, on average, 2.6 times longer than
Britannica's - meaning Wikipedia has an error rate far less than
Britannica's."
It linked to the Nature magazine article here:
http://www.nature.com/news/2005/051212/full/438900a.html
You should check it out, puts an interesting spin on it when Britannica
can be shown to be less reliable on an average article then wikipedia.
- Opposed dissent against wikipedia, especially in huge cases like the Banning in China
