WikiProject Final Fantasy is a collaboration designed to improve the quality of Wikipedia material related to Square Enix's popular Final Fantasy series of console role-playing games. This WikiProject covers any topic directly related to the installments of the Final Fantasy series, as well as spin-offs, future titles, and related people and companies.
Our goals are to:
- standardize content by implementing our manual of style, following guidelines accpeted by the project, adhering to policy, and improving the quality of content; and
- set a precedent among WikiProjects by improving all related material to at least Good Article or Featured List status.
As a means to these ends, this project is a place where editors can compare notes, discuss goals, and address issues by building consensus.

[edit] Content and behavior
Like the rest of Wikipedia, Final Fantasy material must follow all policies. For content, these are: attribution, which includes avoiding original research; neutral point of view; what Wikipedia is not; naming conventions; and, where appropriate, biographies of living persons. If an article does not follow these policies, it should not be included. All other policies on list of policies also apply, including those related to deletion and images. Behvarioral policies are also strictly enforced.
To aid with the above policies, several guidelines are also accepted and implemented by this WikiProject. One of the most important is the project's manual of style, which serves as a guide to standardize the format of material within the scope of this collaboration. Most accepted and relevant guidelines are explained in the manual of style. Other guidelines, such as Spoiler warnings, are not implemented in certain situations per project consensus. However, guidelines like notability of fiction and writing about fiction are usually followed, as mentioned in the manual of style.
[edit] What this project is not
This project is not:
- a groupthink device to circumvent Wikipedia policy by including unencyclopedic material;
- a collaboration meant only for experienced editors; or
- GameFAQs — a place for video game guides and excessive details about plot and gameplay, as aforementioned.
[edit] Attaining goals
[edit] Goal One
Our first goal is to "standardize content by implementing our manual of style, following guidelines accpeted by the project, adhering to policy, and improving the quality of content". Our manual of style is constantly enforced and updated; in general, this goal is already attained. However, sometimes it slips away, questions about new additions come up, or changes are made. In these cases, it is important to make sweeping changes to enforce the new version of the manual of style. Other times, ideas are tested on articles and then added to the manual. In general, this goal is attained through adherence to our manual of style, which in turn adheres to all policies and most guidelines.
The manual of style is updated or tweaked when there is consensus to make those changes. In a case where the manual of style needs to be updated to follow policy, it is acceptable and imperative to change it quickly. Please remember that there is a significant difference between policy and guideline, as addressed above.
In many cases, drastic measures need to be taken to ensure material follows policy and our manual of style. This is done by nominating articles for deletion, blocking vandals, upholding consensus in a firm but civil manner, and holding talkpage discussions.
[edit] Goal Two
Goal Two states that the project intends to "set a precedent among WikiProjects by improving all material to at least Good Article or Featured List status". This is an attainable long-term goal if material follows all policies, the notability guidelines for fiction, and the manual of style. For information on plans being hatched to attain this goal, view the project discussion page. This goal will require synergy and hard work, but the reward is a sense of accomplishment, a major contribution to the information revolution, and perhaps an unprecedented pinnacle on Wikipedia. Of course, attaining this goal will possibly take several years.
Right now, there is a large campaign to ensure that material follows all policies and accepted guidelines. This is the next step towards attaining this goal.
