Colonie Center is a shopping mall located in Colonie, New York at the intersection of Central Avenue, Wolf Road, and Interstate 87. Opening in 1966, it was the first enclosed shopping mall in New York State's Capital Region, and has successfully updated its tenant mix, image, and look on an ongoing basis to keep up with the times. The two-story mall has an area of about 1.25 million square feet and contains approximately 120 stores as well as a food court. Colonie Center is owned by Feldman Mall Properties.

[edit] Coming soon
In late 2005, Feldman Mall Properties presented their initial plans for the overhaul of Colonie Center to the Colonie Town Board; these plans met with approval in February 2006. Prior to the full approval, several other changes had been approved as well. These other changes will comprise the first phase of the mall's overhaul, which will include the following:
- A two-story fireplace (operational as of late 2006)
- Barnes & Noble, replacing current location opposite the mall (slated for September 2007)
- P.F. Chang's China Bistro (slated for July 2007)
- 14-screen Regal Cinema on a new third level over the food court (slated for November 2007)
- L.L. Bean (slated for September 2007)
[edit] Trivia
- When Colonie Center first opened, a handful of the stores were familiar local stores that had either been encouraged to move from downtown streets, or open up a location in the mall. Eventually, many of these store owners decided to close their downtown locations, and keep the more successful Colonie Center location open.
- In more modern times, Spector's Menswear moved to the mall a few years ago from Downtown Albany.
- Colonie Center is currently adding a 14-screen movie theater that will be attached to the mall. A two-screen movie theater previously existed in a separate building on mall property, but closed many years ago, leaving the mall without a movie theater until now.
- The mall's Christmas Tree Shops store is that chain's first store outside of New England.
- Similarly, the proposed L.L. Bean store will be that chain's first location in New York State.
