Cultural interest fraternities and sororities

Cultural interest fraternities and sororities, in the North American student fraternity and sorority system, refer to general or social organizations oriented to students having a special interest in a culture or cultural identity.

Although racial and religious restrictions have long since been abolished in all North-American Interfraternity Conference and National Panhellenic Conference organizations, their memberships nationally remain predominantly Caucasian, and National Pan-Hellenic Council memberships predominantly African American. The new generation of "cultural interest" organizations has arisen to serve the interests of communities whose numbers in the traditional Greek system are historically small and dispersed.

AKΩ - Alpha Kappa Omega - "AKO" - A brotherhood based on the Katipunan, a revolutionary movement in Philippine history. CSUH 1996 & SJSU 2001.
AΦΓ - Alpha Phi Gamma - "APhiG" - Alpha Phi Gamma is the first Asian-American interest sorority at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. established on February 1, 1994.
AΨP - Alpha Psi Rho - "APsiRho" - Asian Pacific Islander interest fraternity founded in 2000 in San Diego State University.

ΔΦΛ - Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. - An Asian interest social sorority founded in 1998 at the University of Georgia. First national Asian sorority founded in the South.
ΚΠВ - Kappa Pi Beta - "KPiB" - The first Asian interest fraternity founded at Northern Illinois University in 2000.
ΚΦΛ - Kappa Phi Lambda, "Kappas" or "KPL" - Asian-American interest sorority founded on March 9, 1995 at SUNY Binghamton. One of the fastest growing Asian-American interest sororities.
ΛΦΕ - Lambda Phi Epsilon - The largest Asian-interest fraternity in the nation. The first and only international Asian-interest fraternity, founded in 1981. The first Asian-interest fraternity member of the NIC (North American Interfraternity Conference).

ΠΑΦ - Pi Alpha Phi - the first Asian American interest fraternity established in 1926 at the University of California, Berkeley.
ΠΔΨ - Pi Delta Psi - the first national Asian cultural fraternity established at Binghamton University in 1994. Also known as "PDPsi."
