I noticed that the 2006 Season is a really really long section of the article...Would it be a better idea to have a small paragraph or two summary or selection of that article on this page and make the 2006 Detroit Tigers its own page? [Reference what the 2006 Minnesota Twins is like]

Changed Game 4 info...Don Larsen pitched a perfect game in the World Series.
- Not sure if that's the answer or not, but what I do know is that the section on the 2006 season is waaaaaaaaay too long. I propose that we delete the current Detroit Tigers roster from this page. The timeliness of the information makes it more suited to wikinews. It would be more succinct to add a link to Tigers page on ESPN.com or Yahoo! Sports. What say you? --djrobgordon 17:38, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The Tigers have signed this years first round pick, Andrew Miller. He has been sent to Lakeland and is on the 40 man roster. He gets a 4 year deal.--Tigersfan1992 22:54, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Should he be added to the Hall of Famers list?
Not only that, but can we please at least MENTION Ernie Harwell in this article? Not many other figures in American sports have been so associated with one team, despite having never played for, coached, or owned said team.
On a related note, to whomever redid the retired numbers section, NICE touch. I think it's a great way to not only honor the tigers greats, but to explain the names in commerica park to all who wiki this. Top job! BT14 16:09, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Whoever did some of the Tigers player pages like the Franklyn German page needs to do a little better job at it. This below is a whole article:
Franklyn German is a relief pitcher currently playing with the Detroit Tigers, and has a career ERA of 5.73.

Given the way the Tigers have played in recent years, I really don't think you could label them as part of any rivalry. Maybe the 1962 Mets, but that would be about it. Wahkeenah 23:45, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

Cleveland is not a rival; what a joke. I've gone to well over 100 games, lived in Detroit for over 30 years, and never heard anyone mention Cleveland as a rival, until I read it here. What is the protocol on this? Carlos Pena was born in the Dominican Republic, but as far as I know, he's an American citizen and has been for a while. Does the flag always represent nation of birth? --Elliskev 20:57, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, flags should refer to country of birth. Citizenship generally isn't public information, so it would be hard to keep rosters accurate if that was used. - Pal 21:58, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

Should the team's current record really be in this article? Seems to me that's an ever-changing number. Currently it's being updated regularly, but what if the updater goes on vacation?

Don't keep it. Except for the occasional off day, it requires daily updating, and it is extremely subject to being outdated often. Many services already cover current baseball records. Wikipedia is not a news service. -- Win777 03:59, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

- good catch -- Casey is still #12 and McClendon #21 on the Tiger's website. Unless someone can catch a glimpse of Lloyd on a brodcast, we may have to wait for a blurb in the newspaper or the next homestand. --X96lee15 20:40, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

I think we should keep them. After this season, I think they can be summarized into a single paragraph or two once we see how the season ends and can then determine what the actual "highlights" are. Until then, I think we should put them back in. I do agree thought that they should be removed once we can put the entire season in perspective. X96lee15 17:22, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
You can tuck them away on a user subpage and insert them later when the season is over as part of the overall team history. Notes on Shelton's pace to 8 home runs and on Guillen's cycle are appropriate because they are notable for history, record setting, and rare. Right now, Wikipedia does not need updates for every game in which the Tigers overcome a deficit for a win or for one grand slam. News articles and blogs cover games and current events well enough. I suppose you are right. I do think that those moments are important to the 2006 season though. What if a "2006 Detroit Tigers" was created? I'm not sure of the precedent, but I seem to recall seeing individual season pages for sports teams while I've been poking around here. X96lee15 18:20, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
That about a third of the article text is listing highlights of a single season for a team with a 100-year history is really not really very encylodpedic! And makes for extremely dull reading. Nfitz 16:32, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Yikes! Too many, IMO. I'm not sure what the precedent from other pages are, but the ones on this page clutter things up. I can only imagine what the Yankees page looks like. Who's your Tiger is not a motto, it's an ad slogan. I've never even heard the Home Again phrase. Also to be a Theme Song I think the song should be played at least once a game, if the Tigers are not in the playoffs these songs are not even heard. The syntax of this sentence makes the fact wrong. Tampa Bay, Toronto and others are still in the original city of founding. It really should say Home Cap Insignia, since the Road cap is different. The Tigers use different D's everywhere, including their home jersey, and on the field and signs at Comerica Park.
