[edit] Football career
Diarmuid is from the townland of Ballinasig, just outside Dingle. Through the years he has played in the Kerry County Champioship, first with his divisional side West Kerry and, more recently, with Dingle. He also played in the Limerick County Championship and in the Sigerson Cup with the University of Limerick. Diarmuid was the goalkeeper for Kerrys 2004 All-Ireland victory over rivals Mayo. Murphy is set to continue his role as goalkeeper, and followed on to see another victory over Mayo in the 2006 all-Ireland senior football championship final at Croke Park on September 17, 2006. Diarmuid has won the National football league division one title with Kerry on two occasions. Murphy currently has two allstars to date in 2004 and 2005 and will be a serious contender for another allstar in 2006.
