Michael McCarthy is a draftsman by profession and is a former Irish Gaelic footballer for Kerry. He currently plays his club football for Kilcummin in county Kerry.

McCarthy has won the all-ireland with Kerry on three occasions, in 2000, 2004 and again in 2006. Michael will be rembered for keeping Conor Mortimers scores low in the 2006 final in what proved to be an easily fought contest against a weak Mayo side. Michael has been on the winning side in Kerrys all-Ireland U21 football championship in 1998. He has also won two national football league division one titles with Kerry in 2004 and 2006. Michael McCarthy has three allstars to date which were awarded in 2000, 2004 and 2005.
