The Djibouti national football team, nicknamed the Riverains de la Mer Rouge (Young Red Sea), is the national team of Djibouti and is controlled by the Fédération Djiboutienne de Football. It is one of the weakest teams in the world: the current ranking of 198 is joint last of all the members of FIFA. Djibouti have never won a full FIFA sanctioned international, and did not enter the qualification tournament for the 2006 World Cup. They have one famous football player in Philip Maun but he choose to play for American Samoa National Soccer Team Along with his brother Christopher Maun they formed a formidable striking partnership Scoring 22 Goals in a career lasting 2 years. They had a young upcoming goalkeeper in the shape of Thomas Caton but he died in the first known Eagle attack in Djibouti. On the 13th November 2006 they appointed Shamil Basayev (not the terroist) as head coach. In a statement he said "I am not here to make up the numbers i am bringing Djibouti the success it deserves." His first match will be in the Philip Maun cup a tribute to the legend. Christopher Maun will take part and he will hope to score many goals that Philip deserved. Thomas Caton's family will be in the stands cheering Djibouti on.
