The Israeli Ministry of Education is the branch of government charged with overseeing public education institutions in Israel. This is a difficult job, as many areas have extremely different needs as far as education is concerned. For example, the neighborhood of Mea Shearim, which the Ministry's offices are located near, has a need for only Ultra-Orthodox schools and yeshivas, while neighborhoods such as Tel Aviv's Ramat Gan has a need for a more secular education.
The minister is determined through a coalition of political parties, and is currently Yuli Tamir, MK.
