Erusea

Erusea is a fictional country in the Ace Combat world that first appeared in the PlayStation 2 game Ace Combat 4, and was briefly mentioned in the sequel Ace Combat 5 and in 5's prequel Ace Combat Zero.

Erusea is located on the Western coast of the Usean continent, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the West and Arctic Ocean to the north, and San Salvacion to the east.

Erusea's has a mostly temperate climate[1], with the exception of the desert between the Amber and Lambert mountain ranges.[2]
[edit] Notable Places
- Anchor Point City - Located on a river between the Amber and Lambert mountain ranges, Anchor Point City was once a large port. After an asteroid impacted nearby, the river dried up, and the city has been abandoned.[3]
- Farbanti - Capital of the Free Erusean Republic. Though badly damaged in 1999 from a fragment of Ulysses XF04, by 2005 most of the city is back to normal. [4]
- Twinkle Islands - An island chain with rocky terrain off of Erusea's southwestern coast. This was also the location of Megalith. Megalith was destroyed on September 26, 2005 during Operation: Judgement Day.[5]

[edit] Pre-War
The game hints that the country is militant in nature, and industrialized, as throughout the course of the war in the Usea Continent, Erusea was successful in developing two super weapons: Stonehenge, and Megalith. Stonehenge, developed in 1994, was designed to destroy Near-Earth Objects, but had potential as an anti-air weapon.
[edit] Continental War
In 2004, Erusea dominated the Usea continent using the superweapon Stonehenge to dominate the airspace over the continent. This drove out the Independent State Allied Forces (ISAF) to North Point. In turn, Erusea conquered most of the Usea mainland. However, within a short period of time, ISAF had countered most of Erusea's attempts to completely conquer ISAF. Erusea officially surrendered in 2005, ending the Continental War.

In 2006, a group of nationalistic Erusian officers took over munitions factory with large amounts of military hardware (including 4 X-02s) and rebelled against the ISAF occupation forces. The rebellion was eventually crushed by AWACS Sky Eye and Mobius 1.

Erusea's army mainly uses NATO equipment. Like the rest of the Erusian military, it is large and powerful, and was able to conquer the Usean Continent.

On the Usean continent, Erusea stands out because of the ace pilots in its Air Force. Although Erusea doesn't possess as much a variety of aircraft as Yuktobania or Osea, it makes up for this through skilled pilots. The military as a whole is very well equipped with American, Russian and European equipment.

Aquila Squadron, the 156th Tactical Fighter Wing, is an elite Erusian fighter squadron. They are nicknamed "Yellow Squadron" because of their callsigns and the yellow wingtips of their aircraft. Aquila Squadron's primary role in the Continental War was to protect Stonehenge, but they were sent to several battles far away from it when Erusian forces were in need of reinforcements.[6] Their base was an unfinished highway in the occupied nation of San Salvación until it fell to ISAF. Although they performed well in the beginning of the Continental War, the Erusian Air Force began to transfer in pilots with less combat experience as the war continued. Yellow Squadron's commanding officer for most of the Continental War, Yellow-13, preferred a five man wedge formation. Yellow Squadron flies Su-37 Terminators.

The Euro-Asia Space Administration is an Erusean government-owned company specializing in aircraft and spacecraft design that became a privately owned company after a larger merger. EASA later became Neucom, Inc.

Nicknamed the "Invincible Fleet", the Aegir Fleet was station in Comberth Harbor, on the east Usean coast during the Continental War. Most of the names are based on birds or Old English and Norse legends. At that time, it was made up of:
- One Kitty Hawk Class CV: Geofon (Old English for "ocean", or possibly Gefjun)
- Two San Giorgio Class LHD
- One Iowa Class BB: Tanager
- One Ticonderoga Class CG: Raven
