Fintry, Dundee

Fintry is an area of Dundee, United Kingdom. Fintry is located in the North of the city with Claverhouse and Mill O Mains to the West and Whitfield to the East. All streets in Fintry begin with the prefix "fin" with three exceptions in the North of the area - Cheviot Crescent, Grampian Gardens and Amond Way. Amond Way is named after the late PC Trevor Amond who was known in the area for his community work.
Fintry has 6 Schools (2 Nursery Schools and 4 Primary Schools) with a total of 1643 pupils.[citation needed] Fintry is served by bus routes 32, 33, 33A and 33B known as the Fintry Shuttle. The city councillor for the area is the SNP's Joe Fitzpatrick who represents the Longhaugh ward.
Fintry has two Bars, the Dolphin Bar on the Fintry Road and Fyfees (used to be the Powrie (poo-ree) at Cheviot.
Famous Fintronians
1 Derek Johnstone Derek was born in Fintry and lived there when he was signed by Rangers. Famously, he scored the winning goal for Rangers against Celtic in a Scottish Cup Final at the age of 16. He went on to represent Scotland and became a TV soccer pundit for a time. Less well known, perhaps, is that, aged 12, he played for a team named Fintry Celtic!
2 Brian Molko (singer and guitarist of placebo) was born and spent the first few years of his childhood in a closey in fintry crescent.
