Ghuman

Ghumman (Urdu: گهمن) is a clan of Jats found in the Pakistan and Northern Indian state of Punjab.

After the Partition of India, Hindu and Sikh Ghumman Jats moved to eastern Punjab (comprising today's states of Punjab (India), Haryana and Himachal Pradesh). While the Muslim Ghummans moved from estern Punjab to Pakistan. Ghumans are usually Zamindars(Landowners), before independence, they usually had large land holdings. There are significant numbers of Ghummans in Pakistan, in the area around Sialkot,in the late 19th century many of ghummans settled around Sargodha and Faisalabad after the establishment of an irrigation system. Famous Ghummans in Pakistan include late Dr.CH.Nasrullah khan ghuman(1st MBBS from Sargodha) , former minister Abdul Ghani Ghumman , Brig.Saad Ullah khan Ghuman Ret. HJ.(Swordian,1951)was also the former Chairman of Faisalabad Development Authority and author of the book From East Pakistan to Bangla Desh and Activist of Pakistan Muslim League under the guidance of Quaid e Azam , Former minister, former Chairman District Council Sargodha and Tehsil Nazim Silanwali Ch.Furrukh Javed Ghuman and finally Umar Ahmed Ghumman-Former Minister of Privatization.

The Ghumans in Pakistan are predominantly Muslims.Ghummans in eastern Punjab in India are predominantly Sikh.
