[edit] Engines
At launch in 2002, 1.1, 1.3 and 1.6-litre petrol or 1.5-litre turbodiesel engines were available: from 2004, 1.1, 1.4 (replacing the original 1.3) and 1.6 litre petrol engines and a 1.5 litre turbodiesel engines (available engine options vary depending on market) were available. The 1.6 petrol and 1.5 turbodiesel engines were not available in all markets: Australia and New Zealand, and some countries in South-East Asia and South America did not get these engines.
A facelift for the 2006 model year saw the Getz receive a 4 cylinder 1.5 litre diesel option, upgraded dash and interior facia and trim, new front and rear styling, and driver and front passenger air bags and also side airbags as standard.
[edit] Trim levels
Trim levels were GSi and CDX, although in Australia and New Zealand XD and XE were the main trim levels.
[edit] Safety
In Australia, the 2002-04 Hyundai Getz was assessed in the Used Car Safety Ratings 2006 as providing "significantly worse than average" protection for its occupants in the event of a crash.[1].
The car received a respectable 4 stars (out of five) in its 2004 EuroNCAP crash tests. It turned in what EuroNCAP described as a "reasonably balanced performance" and "generally good" in-car protection for children. It was noted, however, that the design of the car did little to protect pedestrians.
The ABS brakes and a passenger airbag are extra-cost options on some models in some markets. The South African market version, for example, is not available with side airbags at any price and makes do without a third three-point seatbelt on the rear seat.
[edit] Awards
- Winner of Australia's Best Small Car in [[2003] and 2005.
- Winner of the Scottish Small Car of the Year award in 2003.
- Winner of the UK What Car? Magazine Budget Car of the Year in 2003.
- Budget car champion on the UK motoring programme, 5th Gear in 2003.
- Denmark's Best Seller Of 2003 award.
- The Getz 1.5 CRDi was Portuguese ‘Car of the Year’ for 2004.
[edit] Dodge Brisa
In Venezuela, the Hyundai Getz is badge engineered as the Dodge Brisa. This new model replaces the Accent-based Brisa that debuted in that market in [[April] 2002.
[edit] Trivia
The Getz (under the Click name) appears in the pre-release video game Gran Turismo 4 Tokyo-Seoul for the PlayStation 2 and was the first Korean car to appear in the Gran Turismo series. Strangely it is called the Click Type R, Type R being exclusive to Honda for its performance oriented models. Several Hyundai cars made it to the final release of Gran Turismo 4 but the Click did not return.
