John Connelly

John Michael Connelly (born July 18, 1938 in St. Helens), was an English footballer. He played as a forward. Connelly started his professional career with Burnley. In April 1964, he transferred to Manchester United for £60,000, where he scored 35 goals. In September 1966, he was transferred again, this time to Blackburn Rovers for £40,000. He finished his career with Bury. In recent years he owned a fish and chip shop in Brierfield - Connellys Plaice.
In 20 games for England, Connelly scored seven goals. He was also part of the England squad which won the 1966 FIFA World Cup.
