Jorge Luiz Pereira de Sousa, known as Jorginho, born 6 May 1977 in Goiás, Brazil is a professional footballer currently playing for Portuguese side FC Porto.
Jorginho started his career in regional side Goiatuba, earning him a transfer to Clube Atlético Paranaense, where he played for five seasons before being loaned to Grêmio Inhumense, and then to Goiânia. He was sold to Portuguese side Vitória FC at the start of the European 2001-02 season. In Setúbal, his first season was short of impressive, scoring two goals in 32 matches. In the next season, while hitting the back of the net ten times, he saw Vitória sink to the Liga de Honra, but helped the team getting a promotion in the following year, with 17 goals.
Back in the SuperLiga for the 2004-05 season, Jorginho helped the team hold on to a secure mid-table spot (which was at risk following José Couceiro's departure to FC Porto), and while he could have left Setúbal during the January 2005 transfer window on a free transfer, he remained on the club and was presented with a victory in the Cup of Portugal, and a transfer to FC Porto, where he gained the confidence of manager Co Adriaanse (despite being signed still with Couceiro in charge), playing an attacking trio with Benni McCarthy, Lisandro Lopez and Adriano Vieira Louzada.
Towards the end of the 2005-06 season, Jorginho proved decisive in a thrilling Sporting x Porto title-decider, having scored the winning 1-0 goal during the last minutes of the match. Porto went on the conquer the title.
