Kelvin Fletcher (born January 17, 1984, Oldham, Greater Manchester) is an English actor who has played Andy Sugden in the long-running television soap opera Emmerdale since 1996.
At the age of seven, Fletcher started going to Saturday morning drama sessions at the Oldham Theatre Workshop and was first seen on television on a Saturday Disney report when he was starring as Charlie in Charlie Is My Darling, which he also performed in a special show at the London Palladium.
He attended Thorp Primary School in Royton for his primary school education, and North Chadderton School for his secondary education.
His other major stage performance was as Tom Sawyer in the play adaptation of the same name at the Grand Theatre, Manchester. Although his big break came in Emmerdale, it followed a string of television roles, in programmes such as In Suspicious Circumstances, Cracker, Heartbeat and Chiller. He also co-presented an episode of You've Been Framed with Jeremy Beadle. He also had a bit part in another famous soap opera, Coronation Street. Since appearing in Emmerdale he has twice won Best Dramatic Performance at the UK's annual Soap Awards.
Although he has plans eventually to move into films, away from acting Kelvin Fletcher has said he harbours an ambition to be a rally driver.[1]
