The Kia Soul was originally unveiled as a concept car during the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Kia has announced it would produce the Soul in late 2008 as a 2009 model. The Soul will slot below the Sportage as Kia's entry-level crossover SUV.
The vehicle was designed at Kia's design center in California. The Soul will be produced in South Korea primarily for the U.S. market. It may also be sold in Korea and Europe.
