[edit] Characters from a single game (main series)

These are the characters who appear primarily only in a single game in the series.

[edit] Resident Evil 0

[edit] Resident Evil

  • John - Ada Wong's "boyfriend" from Umbrella.

[edit] Resident Evil 2

The first form of the T-103 Tyrant.
The first form of the T-103 Tyrant.
  • Tofu - Only available in the optional "Tofu Survivor" sub-scenario. Tofu is exactly what his name suggests: a giant, locomotive block of tofu. Obviously, it exists purely as a means of injecting humor into the Resident Evil franchise, and its appearance is not canonical. Tofu's scenario plays out in the same general style as HUNK's scenario, but with some changes. First, Tofu is equipped only with a combat knife, two Green Herbs and one Blue Herb, which makes survival much more a matter of dodging and weaving than brute force and offensive tactics. However, Tofu can absorb much more damage than any other character in the game and won't limp when its health reaches 'Caution' level. Whenever Tofu is attacked, it will scream in Kansai-ben. Tofu's death phrase is "horasainara", meaning farewell. Although not normally accessible, Tofu can also be used in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis through the use of a game enhancer.

[edit] Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

[edit] Resident Evil Code: Veronica

  • "D.I.J." - A mouse whom Claire frees from a locker inside of the Antarctic base before encountering Nosferatu inside his holding cell. He is only given significance via a note file that can be found in the optional 'Battle Mode'. The fact that this file (which details D.I.J.'s encounters with Claire Refield and Albert Wesker throughout the game) exists at all lends itself to humorous speculation and rumor that D.I.J. actually has more significance than would seem the case.

[edit] Resident Evil 4

[edit] Characters from a single game (side games)

[edit] Resident Evil Gaiden

  • Lucia - An orphaned girl and perhaps the only surviving passenger of the ocean cruiser, Starlight. Little is known about Lucia apart from the fact that she was adopted into an orphanage about two years ago. Unbeknownst to her, in an experiment by Umbrella Corporation, her body was injected at that time with a parasite that would take over two years to fully mature. In the meantime, the parasite heightened Lucia's senses and allowed her heal from wounds quickly. Because of these seemingly unnatural abilities, Lucia was ostracized as a child by the other children around her. Finally, Lucia's foster parents decided to send Lucia to live with relatives in Europe, where she could hopefully get a new start in life.
  • The Captain - The captain of a submarine whose crew is sent by the Umbrella Corporation to retrieve Lucia for scientific study.
  • The Amoeba B.O.W. (Bio-Organic Weapon) - Tyrant-like monster that causes the T-Virus outbreak on the Starlight. This monster has the ability to produce tentacles from his abdomen and transform into an amoeba.
  • The Parasite B.O.W. (Bio-Organic Weapon) - Hunter-like monster extracted from Lucia's body. This monster has many abilities, including taking on a human form and speaking a human language. However, unlike humans, its blood is green.

[edit] Resident Evil: Survivor

  • Ark Thompson - A detective sent by Leon S. Kennedy to investigate the Umbrella Corporation's activities on Sheena Island, a private community owned and run by the company. After he is struck with amnesia in a helicopter crash, Ark finds himself investigating a city now crawling with the undead whilst attempting to gather information regarding his identity.
  • Vincent Goldman - The commander-in-chief of Sheena Island. Vincent is responsible not only for Sheena Island's daily operations, but also for some of Umbrella's "dirty businesses", such as the acquisition of suitable experimental subjects, notably children who would be forcibly operated upon without the use of anesthetic, making him a very cruel man. Paranoid, suspicious and a bit insane, Vincent caused the T-Virus outbreak on Sheena Island when his employees threatened to cast him down for his crimes. It is revealed that Ark posed as Vincent in order to gain access to secret documents to help incriminate him.
  • Lott & Lily Klein - Respectively, the son and daughter of two of Umbrella's researchers residing on Sheena Island. After their parents are infected when Goldman releases the T-Virus across the city, Lott becomes extremely protective of his younger sister, defending her from the zombie infestation with the impromptu weapon of a baseball bat. Prior to the Sheena Island crisis, Lott served as an informant for Vincent Goldman, and as such is the only living person on the island (aside from Vincent himself) who knows of Ark's true identity. Later, Lott assists Ark in uncovering his identity, and the three manage to escape Sheena Island together.
  • Andy Holland - An underground supervisor for the Umbrella Corporation on Sheena Island. Although a good man at heart, he later develops an irrational hatred towards Vincent Goldman during the Sheena Island crisis. This leads him to attack Ark due to the irony of his facade as Vincent working too well.
  • UT Commander - The leader of the Umbrella Trashsweepers (colloquially known as the "UnderTakers" or "Cleaners"), a team sent by the Umbrella Corporation to destroy any and all evidence of the T-Virus incident on Sheena Island, as well as eliminating all witnesses to the event. Although not members of the same unit, the Cleaners bear a strong resemblance to HUNK, wearing black chemical suits and gas masks. Strangely, when they die, Cleaners dissolve into a mist. Taking into account their unique operational situations, this is perhaps a side effect of possible testing or research the Cleaners have undergone to increase their efficiency in combat or resistance to viral agents.

[edit] Resident Evil: Dead Aim

  • Bruce McGivern - A member of US-STRATCOM, an American government agency whose goal is the investigation and shutdown of the Umbrella Corporation. Although seen as reckless by his peers, Bruce has a strong sense of justice and is willing to die for his ideals.
  • Fong Ling - A covert Chinese government operative under the Ministry of State Security. When her parents died shortly after she was born, Fong Ling was raised by the Chinese government. As an agent, she even tracked down and arrested her older brother, a democratic activist and a "traitor" of China. He was executed a day later, but Fong Ling's loyalties never flinched. A patriot at heart, Fong Ling will not hear a bad word spoken about the government she works for.
  • Morpheus D. Duvall - A former researcher for Umbrella Corporation with an obsession for beauty. Years ago, Morpheus was blamed and fired for the Spencer Mansion incident. Later, Morpheus stole several T-virus samples from Umbrella's Paris laboratory, intending to use them to hold the world for ransom. To this end, he hijacks the Umbrella-owned ocean cruiser, the Spencer Rain, from which he plans to launch T-virus warheads if his demands are not met. After failing to launch or even set up the launch for the missiles. Bruce Mcgivern managed to stop him, which then forced him to the use the untested mix of the G and T virus on himself. He reached three levels of transformation - his first being the most human-like than any other creature born from the infection to date(?). This transformation was that of a taller more nimble form of himself, with pink and purple tinted skin. His face was slightly disfigured and his cloth was tattered. However, he did maintain his thoughts and mind even though he did transform. His second transformation was a lot more grotesque and muscular than his former one. With his memory and mental functionality lowered. His third and supposed final transformation, was a smaller Albino creature than breathed purple electricity and stood on all fours. His body was now more like a large dog like beast and his body was nothing but skin. His movements are erratic and any intellect was now diminished. In all his forms he seems to have a unique ability that allows him to control his inner bioeletrcity and shoot it out his body like lightning and even add it to a hit for a more fatal blow.

[edit] Main characters

  • Kevin Ryman - An R.P.D. officer, Kevin is based from the same central precinct as the legendary S.T.A.R.S. unit. Although an expert marksman, Kevin always finds himself runner-up to either Chris Redfield or Forest Speyer in local shooting tournaments. Being an eternal optimist, he figures his time will eventually come. Kevin has failed the S.T.A.R.S. selection process twice, due to his slacking nature and carefree attitude, although he is highly qualified for the job in every other regard. He is athletic, good with firearms and an avid car lover. J's Bar is Kevin's favourite haunt, having amassed a hefty tab over the years, his name is on the blacklist until he decides to pay off his debts. Kevin is also a hopeless darts player, and has lost a small fortune trying to beat his far more skilled opponents over and over again, perhaps giving some insight into his irresponsible personality.
  • Mark Wilkins - A veteran of the Vietnam War, Mark works as a security guard. Although over fifty years old, he still retains the robust strength of his youth and can swing a heavy-hitting pipe harder than any other member of the group. Having experienced the horrors and atrocities of war, Mark has a side of his personality that is mentally fragile, and understands the importance of every moment in life. Because of this, Mark focuses much of his time and effort on his family and friends, and is always looking for new ways to connect with his children and wife. Mark likes to learn, and intends to try everything from gardening to cooking as a means of improving himself as he nears retirement.
  • Jim Chapman - A subway employee with a keen sense of intuition and a talent for problem-solving. While Jim is a friendly and cheerful person, he can also be very cowardly and will complain constantly when nervous or angry. Although he means no harm, Jim's personality tends to frustrate and annoy those around him. He is a highly intelligent person who enjoys nothing more than sitting down to a difficult crossword puzzle or other thought-provoking challenge to pass the time, although his manner of speech and choice of clothing gives others the first-impression he was raised in a rough environment.
  • George Hamilton - One of Raccoon City's finest surgeons, George works at Raccoon General Hospital. Although he is not a person who likes to take the lead under pressure, he has a cooperative, open-minded spirit and the ability to naturally acquire the trust of others. He has a keen interest in the collection of rare and unique watches and a reputation for being a sharp dresser. Although George lives in relative luxury due to his highly demanding occupation, he has a naturally active lifestyle, and feels much more relaxed when camping or rowing.
  • David King - A plumber rumored to have a violent past. Brooding, taciturn and a man of few words, David can be short-tempered and vulgar at times, but is not an unfriendly person. David values strength, favouring masculine clothing and items, although it is unknown if he has any hobbies or particular interests. David possesses sharp eyesight and quick reflexes, his ability to create deadly and efficient weapons from even the most useless of household items makes him a valuable ally. He is very proficient with knives.
  • Alyssa Ashcroft - A journalist employed by one of Raccoon City's local newspapers. Alyssa has a driving need to collect every bit of information and is never afraid to speak her mind or do what it takes to get the scoop. While she is known to be pushy, argumentative and a sore loser, she is always ready to help those in need and can be relied upon even in the most dire of situations. Alyssa is also a colleague of reporter Ben Bertolucci, although the two barely know each other as little more than professional rivals.
  • Yoko Suzuki - A mysterious young woman, Yoko claims to be a student of Raccoon City's prestigious local university. An expert with computers, Yoko is a very quiet and reserved person, although she is prone to bouts of uncharacteristic bravery when it is needed the most. She has a highly inquisitive mind and, once focused on something, will relentlessly pursue her goal until it is achieved. There are rumors that link Yoko to the Umbrella Corporation, although she has effectively erased that part of her memory possibly due to a traumatic event or situation, she has been recognised by several of Umbrella's researchers. This is later proven to be the case when Yoko finally remembers her past as a former researcher for Umbrella. After escaping from Raccoon City, Yoko testifies against the Umbrella Corporation in the Supreme Court, exposing its inhuman atrocities and sealing the fate of the company for good.
  • Cindy Lennox - A waitress at J's Bar. She is a natural beauty with bright blonde hair and a smile to match, Cindy is loved by all around her due to her kind, cheerful attitude and lovable nature. Always putting priority on those around her before her own interests, Cindy can retain her able personality even in the face of the most dire situations. A loyal friend with a protective personality, Cindy will not hesitate to come to the aid of a person in danger. Cindy's hobbies include collecting clothing and small trinkets that she finds cute and adorable. She is also fascinated by Raccoon's famous herbs that grow in the woods of the Arklay Mountains. She has several books detailing the usage of herbs for cooking and medicine preparation, and a special case for carrying herbs that comes in handy when a member of the team needs immediate medical treatment.

[edit] File#1 NPCs

  • Bob - Bob is a security guard and Mark's friend. He is already on the verge of complete infection when the game first begins. After he is brought to the roof of J's Bar, he decides to take his life to prevent himself from turning into a zombie and attacking the others.
  • Will - Will is the bartender at J's Bar. While working at the bar, he was attacked by a zombie that he believed was simply a strange customer, and received a mortal wound to the Neck. He successfully locked his assailant out of the shop before collapsing on the ground. Moments after they break in, he is swarmed and killed by zombies, and later becomes one.
  • Raymond - Raymond is one of several R.P.D. officers responsible for aiding hundreds of civilians to reach evacuation points in the early hours of the Raccoon City crisis. A close friend of Kevin Ryman, Raymond is fearless and resourceful; using the SPAS-12 he carries to help the survivors escape the dangerous street through an alleyway opposite J's Bar. He is later killed trying to help the survivors escape.
  • Arthur - Arthur is another R.P.D. officer charged with assisting in the evacuation of the public and the lockdown of the "riot zones" throughout Raccoon City. When Raymond and Arthur are dispatched to handle the evacuation of downtown Raccoon City, where J's Bar is located, Arthur is killed by the zombies chasing down the terrified citizens that he is attempting to evacuate.
  • Aaron -
  • Dorian - Dorian is another R.P.D. officer assisting in the evacuation, and is in possession of a S.W.A.T. van to help with the task. Dorian tries to relocate the survivors and several other citizens to a safer region, but is stopped by one of the many roadblocks set up throughout the area. While Dorian succeeds in evacuating the survivors when a large R.P.D. taskforce arrives to secure the area, his eventual fate is unknown.
  • Elliott, Eric, and Harry - Elliot, Eric, and Harry are the three R.P.D. officers tasked with destroying Main Street to halt the progress of the zombies. Elliot and Eric are overcome by the horde as they attempt to cover Harry, who retreats to the walkway and contacts the other survivors. The injured Harry asks the survivors to retrieve the detonator pieces and destroy Main Street. Harry's help was later enlisted by a fellow officer, Rita, who was attempting to return to the R.P.D. to evacuate the survivors barricaded in the station.
  • Monica - Monica is a researcher in the Umbrella Corporation's underground laboratory located directly beneath Raccoon City. Monica murders one of her fellow researchers after he discovers her attempting to steal a G-Embryo from the laboratory. Monica apparently recognises Yoko Suzuki from past encounters, and threatens to kill her if she doesn't give Monica her Umbrella security card. Near the end, Monica is infected with the G-Embryo after an encounter with William Birkin. Shortly after the J's Bar survivors escape using the Turn Table, she is killed when the G-Embryo bursts out of her chest.
  • Hursh - Hursh is a doctor at Raccoon General Hospital and one of George's closest colleagues, who chose to stay at the hospital and treat the sick and wounded for as long as possible. The J'r Bar survivors encounter Dr. Hursh when they seek shelter inside, attempting to locate medical supplies. Dr. Hursh explains to them that the hospital is no longer a safe place to stay and that they should escape as soon as he can find a way to repair the elevator. When he restores power to the elevator, however, he is killed by the "Leech Man".
  • Charlie and Len - Two Raccoon Fire Department officers who assisted the R.P.D. with the evacuation of the Apple Inn and surrounding area. As they scour the basement for survivors, the poorly maintained boiler explodes, killing them both. The J's Bar survivors discover their bodies as Danny, another R.F.D. officer, attempts to re-establish contact with the pair via his tactical radio.
  • Danny and Gill - Two members of a firefighting team stationed beneath the exit overpass, evacuating the wounded from the area. When the basement boiler of the Apple Inn explodes, Danny attempts to contact his friends, Charlie and Len, who were inside at the time. Receiving no answer, Danny rushes to the scene and rescues the J's Bar survivors from the lobby of the Apple Inn by destroying the jarred door blocking their escape route.
  • Peter Jenkins - Peter has been a close friend of George Hamilton from a young age, two having attended the same schools as children. A researcher and lecturer at the prestigious Raccoon University, Jenkins assisted in the creation of Daylight, which can instantly destroy the T-Virus cells.
  • Greg Muller - Greg is an unethical Umbrella researcher assigned to conduct various experiments at Raccoon University. Greg creates a powerful creature similar in size and strength to the Tyrant model that he named 'Thanatos'. However, when Umbrella begins to massproduce the Tyrant, Greg becomes furious, believing that this would take away from the individuality and unique-ness of his subject. Like many Umbrella researchers, Greg views his creations as works of art, and not massproduced weapons as the Umbrella Corporation intended, and refuses to help them any further. To spite Umbrella, Greg helps Dr. Peter Jenkins create a cure for the T-Virus, Umbrella's most prized viral weapon. Greg is later killed after an encounter with Nicholai Ginovaef.
  • Nicholai Ginovaef - The notorious U.B.C.S. supervisor who first appeared in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Nicholai makes an extended appearance in Decisions, Decisions. While on a mission to collect a blood sample from Thanatos, he successfully assassinates rogue Umbrella researcher, Greg Muller, although fails to retrieve the blood sample. Nicholai then destroys Raccoon University using C4 to cover up any evidence of the Umbrella Corporation's research.

[edit] File#2 NPCs

  • Austin Tayor - A watchman at the Raccoon City Zoo, Austin's job is to handle dangerous animals and difficult tasks regarding the day-to-day operation of the zoo. After barricading himself inside the watchtower, he asks the J's Bar survivors to let his remaining comrades know that he is safe.
  • Patrick Reyes and Lloyd Stewort - Surviving zookeepers at the Raccoon City Zoo. Both Patrick and Lloyd have been injured by the infected animals roaming the area, and have chosen to await rescue inside the zoo.
  • Albert Lester - The former Hospital Administrator who now lives his life as The Axeman; a shirtless, hooded man who chases the J's Bar survivors through the halls of the abandoned hospital. He lures campers, hikers and botanists into the hospital before attempting to kill them for food for the gigantic, infected, plant that has infested the hospital. He remained in the area after the hospital's closure, continuing to care for the infected Dorothy in the intensive care unit. After encountering the J's Bar survivors rummaging for supplies in his cabin, he offers to lead them to the safety of the neighboring town, instead luring them into an ambush at the abandoned hospital. Albert later gets crushed by falling debris along with his dead wife.
  • Regan Mallet - Regan is another surviving citizen of the outbreak attempting to escape the danger of Raccoon City through the Arklay Mountains with her daughter, Lucy. After escaping into the mountains, she is attacked and separated from her daughter. Eventually, the J's Bar survivors find Regan injured and defenseless inside Albert Lester's cabin, and help locate Lucy and return her to safety.
  • Kurt - A journalist associated with Alyssa Ashcroft who attempted to expose the illegal testing of experimental products on patients in the Abandoned Hospital by a company called "Drugs, Inc.". This company was actually a front used by the Umbrella Corporation to avoid detection while supplying the hospital with the test products. Kurt is killed by the infected Dorothy after breaking into the hospital in an attempt to gather evidence.
  • Dorothy Lester - Deceased wife of Ex-Hospital Administrator Al (The Axeman). Dorothy was diagnosed with a terminal illness and was used as one of Al's test subjects in a last ditch effort to cure her. Dorothy fell victim to the effects of the T-Virus and became a zombie, killing Kurt when he infiltrated the hospital in an attempt to find evidence of malpractice. Upon defeating the massive vine creature which supports the crumbling hospital structure, her lifeless corpse is expelled from the creature's bowels.
  • Rita - An R.P.D. officer who works with Marvin Branagh and several other officers in an attempt to escape the deteriorating security of the Raccoon City Police Department. She squeezes through a crawlspace leading to the precinct's exterior and eventually comes across fellow officer, Harry, who is in possession of a SWAT van. Although they return in time to save the J's Bar survivors, an injured Marvin Branagh chooses to stay behind to protect them from danger.
  • Fred, Andy, Jean, and Tony - Surviving members of the R.P.D. Tony is a dog trainer, while the other three are regular officers. Fred, Tony and Andy are three members of the handful of survivors barricaded inside the R.P.D. precinct. All are killed during the zombie invasion, with Fred being overcome by infected crows on the roof, Andy being eaten alive when zombies infest the emergency staircase and Tony being mauled to death by infected Cerberus dogs in the K-9 kennel. Jean's body can be found in the Underbelly scenario, alongside a final note addressed to his R.P.D. colleagues.
  • Nathan Donelly and Samuel Kirk - Suspected armed robbers that were accused of stealing $800 and various guns from MacLeed's Gun Shop on Carter Street, perhaps in an attempt to prepare for the outbreak. They were being confined within the R.P.D. holding cells with Ben Bertolucci at the time of the outbreak. The pair do not escape with the survivors. They are not seen in the cells during Resident Evil 2 or 3, and they cannot be freed over the course of "Desperate Times." What eventually becomes of them is unknown.
  • Linda - An Umbrella researcher who returns to the corporation's branch in Raccoon City to retrieve a vaccine sample. Failing to do so after the Tyrant's attack, she is later mistaken for a zombie and shot in the leg by Arnold, a U.B.C.S. soldier, outside the Apple Inn. Aided by the J's Bar survivors, she escapes minutes before Raccoon City is destroyed and eventually reunites with U.S.S. member Rodriguez on the outskirts of the city. She declares that humanity's one true hope is the ability to change, and testifies against the Umbrella Corporation's atrocities in the Supreme Court, alongside fellow researcher Yoko Suzuki.
  • Carter - An Umbrella researcher who foolishly releases a Tyrant in an attempt to escape Umbrella's research facility in Raccoon City, which is crawling with escaped Hunter B.O.W.'s. Carter states that they must "Fight fire with fire", believing the Tyrant will eliminate all opposition and lead them to safety. Upon realizing that Carter can destroy it at any time via a remote detonator linked to explosives inside its body, the Tyrant rebels and attacks Carter, killing him and leaving the J's Bar survivors to frantically search for the missing detonator. During the same attack, the Tyrant destroys Linda's T-Virus vaccine sample.
  • Rodriguez - An Umbrella Security Service member in possession of a crate containing an experimental B.O.W (Nyx) attached to his CH-47 Chinook transport helicopter. He waits on Main Street while Umbrella researcher Linda goes in search of a vaccine sample in the nearby research facility. Upon hearing that Code XX is announced, he decides that he's waited to long and abandons Linda. As he flies away, an Umbrella official launches a Stinger missile at his helicopter. Rodriguez maneuvers to avoid it, but not before the missile clips the crate and falls onto a highway overpass where Arnold's U.B.C.S. unit have set up a roadblock. The crate is damaged on impact, and Nyx escapes, destroying the entire unit as they attempt to retrieve it and leaving the J's Bar survivors with yet another obstacle in their path to escape. Should the J's Bar survivors escape with Rodriguez, the crate is extracted successfully.
  • Arnold - A U.B.C.S. commander assigned to a clandestine retrieval operation in Raccoon City. Arnold cares little about the operation, and instead turns killing the surrounding zombies into a sport, accidentally shooting Linda when he mistakes her for another zombie. Upon realising his error, Arnold continues his game, not phased in the slightest about whether or not his targets are human or zombie. Upon discovering Raccoon City's impending fate, Arnold abandons the mission and his unit, choosing to save himself before the missile attack is launched.

[edit] Resident Evil Confidential Report Files #1 & 2

  • Tyler Hamilton - A rookie RPD cop, Tyler had been assigned to guard an Umbrella laboratory. After the explosion that released the virus throughout the facility trapped Tyler, he made a desperate bid to escape back to the police station. After escaping, Tyler responded to the distress call from the school dormitory and surmised that no student would have the number for the emergency hotline and sets out to investigate.
  • Naomi McClain - An FBI Agent who was outside of the police station at the time of the explosion. She had come to Raccoon city to uncover the truth of Umbrella's experiments and after the explosion, sets off into the facility to recover her missing informants. When Tyler receives the distress call from the school, Naomi intercepts it and decodes a message from an informant.

[edit] Biohazard 4D Executer

  • Klaus - Squad leader of a U.B.C.S. unit sent into Raccoon City after learning that Dr. Cameron, an Umbrella researcher, was believed to be alive. He was killed by an infected Roger when the mutated Dr. Cameron took over his body and eliminated the team leader by plunging her tentacles into his face making it explode like a balloon, instantly killing him.
  • Ed - U.B.C.S. operator who wore a bandanna over his head. He turned into a monster after being pecked to death by an infected crow.
  • Roger - The unit's electronics expert. Responsible for tracking down the last location of Dr. Cameron before he was infected and his state of mind taken over by Dr. Cameron's mutated cells in the sewers from an infected roach.
  • Roberto - The man in charge of their Humvee's machine gun. He was the first casualty of Klaus' unit when he was stabbed by the heavily mutated form of Dr. Cameron in a municipal warehouse.
  • Norman - Bald operator armed with either a Benelli or Remington shotgun. Was cut in half from the waist when he was rushing out of the sewers to aid Ed, who was already turned into the same monster that they fought back in the warehouse.
  • Dr. Cameron - Umbrella scientist assigned to the Raccoon City branch. Like William Birkin, she suffered a gruesome fate by mutating into a hybrid-like monster that looked like a Nemesis and a Tyrant, but only after realizing that she may became a zombie after being infected with the T-Virus. Even in her monster form, she is still self-aware and her cells had infected Roger in order to escape Raccoon City alive from a roach. At the end of the film, she used her tentacles to make Klaus's head explode, vowing that Umbrella would never get their hands on her research.

[edit] Resident Evil (Genesis)

  • Dr. Blue, Dr. Brown and Dr. Green - Are Umbrella scientists working in The Hive. They were killed when they became infected during the T-Virus outbreak after the Red Queen sealed and flooded the lab. Dr. Brown tried to use an emergency fire axe to break the lab's reinforced observation windows, but the armored glass was too strong. Later the dead scientists were reanimated into zombies and attacked the members of the Umbrella commando team sent into the Hive, Dr. Brown was still carrying his axe. Dr. Brown was later killed by Rain Ocampo, Dr. Blue was shot in the head by Chad Kaplan, and Dr. Green bit Spence Parks and infected him with the virus, and was later shot in the head. The three scientists are played by Joseph May, Robert Tannion, and Anna Bolt. In the novelization, their names are given as Dr. Mariano Rodriguez (possibly a reference to Michelle Rodriguez, who played Rain Ocampo), Dr. Johnny-Wayne Carlson, and Dr. Anna Bolt (an obvious reference to the actress who played her in the film).
  • Mr. Grey, Mrs. Black and Mr. Red - Are three office workers who became trapped inside an elevator inside The Hive. Mrs. Black was killed by the Red Queen when attempting to assist Mr. Grey and Mr. Red on opening the elevator doors. This resulted in her decapitation when the elevator's brakes failed. The others eventually became zombies after a commando team was sent in to investigate. In the film, the three were played by Ryan McCluskey, Indra Ove, and Oscar Pearce. Although Mr. Red is not mentioned by name in the novelization, Mr. Grey and Mrs. Black are identified in the book as Mark Torvaldsen and Ella Fontaine.
  • Warner and Twelve - Are the other two members in One's commando team. They were killed along with One inside the laser corridor outside the Red Queen's control room. Their names in the novelization are given as Alfonso Warner and Vance Drew.

  • Mackenzie - is a citizen of Raccoon City who survived the initial outbreak of the t-virus. He sought refuge in the church after escaping zombies at the office building where he worked. Armed with a large pistol, Mackenzie tried to force Jill Valentine, Peyton Wells and Terri Morales away from the church, claiming it was his. When the church was swarmed with Lickers, Mackenzie panicked and was separated from the others. He was later killed when a Licker attacked him inside the church. In the novelization, his full name is given as Angus McKenzie with his last name spelled differently, he was also a telemarketer who was married to a woman named Flora. Mackenzie was played by Geoffrey Pounsett.

[edit] Book, graphic novel characters

[edit] S.D. Perry's novelizations

Characters who appear in S.D. Perry's novelizations of the games and two completely original novels: The Umbrella Conspiracy, Caliban Cove, City of the Dead, Underworld, Nemesis, Code: Veronica, and Zero Hour.

Trent

An enigmatic man with seemingly limitless resources and an overabundance of confidence. He has a certain amount of pull within the Umbrella Corporation, though he is trying to destroy them through roundabout means. It is later revealed that his name is James Trenton Darius (formerly Victor Darius), and that his parents had helped develop the T-virus. He appears in several of the novels, although his first appearance was in The Umbrella Conspiracy. The only novel he does not actually appear in is Zero Hour, although his name comes up in a scene between Wesker and Birkin. Trent is believed to be involved in White Umbrella as to what Reston states in his many thoughts while watching John, Leon and Cole.

David Trapp

30 years old, from the S.T.A.R.S. Exeter Branch, in Maine. He works hard to get the information that the team needs. David is articulate and doesn't find himself able to talk often in front of people he does not know. He traveled to Caliban Cove, with Rebecca, and a small team. After escaping from that ordeal, he then began a mission to The Salt Flats in Utah, where they (he, Andrews and Rebecca) are joined by Leon and Claire. (Caliban Cove and Underworld)

John Andrews

A man with "muscles on his muscles". Formerly a communications expert and field scout for the Exeter S.T.A.R.S. (Caliban Cove and Underworld)

Steve Lopez

A 22-year old member of the Maine branch of S.T.A.R.S, of Hispanic descent. He serves as computer expert of the team. His interaction with Rebecca sparks a chemistry between the two. However, he does not survive the Caliban Cove mission, as he was injected with the T-Virus strain developed by Dr. Griffith and commits suicide under his command. (Caliban Cove)

Karen Driver

A 30-year-old forensic expert for the Maine branch of S.T.A.R.S. Her father was a World War II veteran and she carries a grenade from his days of service as a good luck charm, while keeping it a secret from her comrades. She succumbs to the T-Virus during her mission in Caliban Cove. (Caliban Cove)

Dr. Nicolas Griffith

A scientist that has developed a T-Virus strain that allows zombies (known as Trisquads) to follow his every whim, eliminating fully the higher brain functions such as sentience and will, leaving the lower functions, enough to provide useful servants, intact. He conducts his experiments in a secret laboratory located in Caliban Cove in Maine. (Caliban Cove)

Dr. Alan Kinneson

One of the scientists at Caliban Cove who was infected by Griffith's variant of the T-Virus and became one of his servants. He is shot in the head by John Andrews. (Caliban Cove)

Dr. Louis Thurman

Another one of the Caliban Cove scientists who became infected which Griffith's T-Virus variant and became one of his servants. Thurman is eaten by Karen Driver after she becomes a regular zombie. (Caliban Cove)

Dr. Tom Athens

The third Caliban Cove scientist given a dose of Griffith's virus and turned into a servant of the insane doctor, Tom Athens did the majority of Dr. Griffith's tasks and errands until he was shot and killed in a lighthouse by the S.T.A.R.S. Exeter branch.(Caliban Cove)

Beverly Harris

The daughter of Raccoon City's Mayor Devlin Harris (the novel version of Mayor Michael Warren), Beverly was placed in the care of Chief Brian Irons by the Mayor himself, but the psychotic Irons killed her instead. Although non-canon as far as the games are concerned, the novel offers one possible explanation for what exactly became of the Mayor's daughter's body after Claire returns to Irons' office: according to the book, Irons stuffs her into a cabinet in his "hobby room." This character is the first of Perry's efforts to give names to previously unnamed characters, and this could have possibly been applied to the game canon, if not for the fact that Resident Evil 3 reveals that the name of Raccoon City's mayor is Warren, not Harris. In the games, the Mayor's daughter has no known first name. (City of the Dead)

Jay Reston

The director of an Umbrella facility located at Utah known as The Planet, which was built with the purpose of pitting White Umbrella's latest Bio-Organic Weapons against each other in four simulated environments (forest, desert, mountain and urban) to test their efficiency. When Rebecca and her crew infiltrates the facility, he uses the opportunity to trap Leon and Andrews inside these arenas and unleash the specimens before the actual scheduled date for the exercise. reston is also know as Mr. Blue. A mechanic stated to John and Leon "Blue ain't here" (Underworld)

Henry Cole

An electrician assigned to work for The Planet. He is betrayed by Reston and trapped within the Planet's arena along with Leon and Andrews. He helps the two find their way out of the arena with his knowledge of the facility's layout. (Underworld)

Randy Thomas

A friend of Carlos Oliveria and a member of the UBCS. He is infected with the T-Virus and turns into a zombie, and then Carlos kills him, much in the manner of Murphy Seeker. (Nemesis)

Ken Franklin

A UBCS member encountered at the hospital by Nicholai, who shoots him. The mortally wounded Franklin then tries and fails to kill Nicholai by detonating a grenade. Although he fails to kill Nicholai and also kills himself in this fashion, Franklin's actions did prevent Nicholai from killing Carlos. Ken Franklin is a renamed version of Tyrell Patrick. (Nemesis)

Dr. Thomlinson

A scienctist also trying to get info. She tries to seduce Nicholai before he shoots her three times in the head. He later regrets killing her thinking that "A quick tussle would have warmed him up."

John Wersbowski

A member of the UBCS who is killed by Nicholai after the two are the only ones from their unit to survive a zombie attack. (Nemesis)

Dr. Mario Tica

A scientist at the Rockfort Island facility, Dr. Tica became trapped in the room where the Bandersnatches were kept following Wesker's attack on the island. He attempted to radio someone for help, but Alfred, who had disliked Tica's attitude, ignored his pleas. By the time Claire arrived at the part of the facility where Tica was, the Bandersnatches had awoken and one of them kills the scientist right before her eyes. This character represents Perry's second attempt to provide a name for an unnamed character; in Code: Veronica the game Claire does actually witness a Bandersnatch kill a scientist, but he is not identified by name. (Code: Veronica)

Dr. Paul Stoker

The head doctor of the Rockfort Island prison. He was one of the few people who be considered a friend of Alfred Ashford, since like Alfred he was a sadist who enjoyed torturing and tormenting people. He was very loyal to Alfred, and in return Alfred gave him his own fully-equipped medieval torture chamber where he could act out his sadistic fantasies on the prisoners. During Wesker's attack on the island, Stoker becomes infected with the T-Virus and becomes a zombie. He is later killed by Claire Redfield. Like Dr. Tica before him, Dr. Stoker represents an attempt by Perry to provide names for unidentified characters from the games. In this case, oddly, an enemy, since "Stoker" appears only as a zombie. (Code: Veronica)

Bill Nyberg

An Umbrella executive. A typical middle-management bootlicker, Nyberg handles the company's end of a lawsuit filed by a family whose daughter, used as a test subject in the trial run of a new medicine, became sick. Nyberg was working on the documents of the case on board the Ecliptic Express when the train is attacked by the leeches under the control of the resurrected James Marcus. Nyberg dies in the attack. Once again, here is a character from the games who Perry gives a name. Nyberg is, apparently, meant to be the bespectacled executive on the train who sees the leeches attaching themselves to the windows. (Zero Hour)

[edit] Wildstorm's Comic Book series

  • Michelle Allen

A student at the Raccoon City College, Michelle came from New York City and thus was extremely desensitized when it came to criminal violence. When her classmate Julie was killed on the campus grounds, Michelle didn't see any reason to get worked up about it despite the paranoid fears of Raquell and Mike. This came back to haunt her in a big way when she was attacked and killed walking back to her dorm from the school library by a creature later revealed to be a werewolf.

  • Raquell and Mike

Michelle's friends at Raccoon City College. They believed that something terrible was afoot at the college when Michelle and another girl, Julie, were both killed on the school grounds. They warned undercover S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine, posing as an exchange student, to return to where she came from before she too was killed.

  • Patrick Brady

A guard at Raccoon City Zoo, he witnessed Dr. William Birkin's mutant form infest the animals with the G-Virus, transforming them into much more dangerous versions. He locked himself in a cabin at the zoo, where he heard a message from Leon from the R.P.D. He stockpiled some weapons and blasted Raccoon Zoo by overheating all generators, but in return was killed by a mutant beaver before he could escape the ruins.

  • Blanky and Steiner

Fellow security guards at Raccoon City Zoo, killed by Dr. Birkin' mutant form.

  • Stan and Leslie

Couple who travelled to an exclusive island, Isla Bonale, hoping to rest there. A plane containing Lickers crashed in the island and transformed the flora and fauna of the island into horrible abominations, most notably a massive mutant eel and zombies. Eventually, Stan was infected with the T-Virus and Leslie called for help with a radio, and a group of UBCS landed in the island. When they were ready to be saved, Dr. William Birkin talks to them for a short while, mocks Stan for his infections, then personally eradicates them.

  • Ace

The employee of a small scuba diving equipment rental in Bonale Island, where Stan and Leslie travelled. He is infected with the T-Virus and his cadaver is devoured by an eel, which evolves into a hideous mutant.

  • Dr. Peter W. Lengle

A psychologist at the service of Umbrella, he feigned to help Barry Burton get rid of his terrible nightmares, while in fact tried to crush his evidence. He also worked in B.O.W. research.

  • Sheriff Carey

The sheriff of Saguaro Wells, a small Nevada town with a population of only 472 people. Despite his increasing worry over missing people, Sheriff Carey refused to allow the townspeople to practice frontier justice and scour the hills armed with shotguns. In disobeying him, they temporarily saved his son Wayne from a pack of vicious Night Stalkers. After Wayne, infected with the G-Virus, died, the Sheriff turned to Leon S. Kennedy for help.

  • Wayne Carey

The son of Sheriff Carey, Wayne lived in Saguaro Wells with his father. He stayed out late one evening trying to catch a stray calf, Gracie, and was attacked by the Night Stalkers, genetically engineered humanoid bats. The Night Stalkers killed Gracie and one of them bit Wayne, but he was rescued when a posse of gun-toting locals happened upon the scene and drove the monsters away. Wayne was taken to the hospital but by then it was too late. Infected with the G-Virus, he turned into a zombie and was killed.

  • Dr. Callos

A mad scientist employed by Umbrella, Dr. Callos operated out of a hidden laboratory in a cave outside of Saguaro Wells. He wanted to genetically combine humans and bats (á la Man-Bat) to spread the G-Virus across the world. He succeeded in creating a breed of humanoid bats called the Night Stalkers, which he controlled with an advanced sonar array. Callos died when Leon S. Kennedy disabled the sonar, and the Night Stalkers turned on Callos and his colleagues.

  • Vedley and Bondra

Vedley and Bondra were two of Dr. Callos' assistants. Vedley was killed by the Night Stalkers after he failed to eliminate Leon S. Kennedy, and was replaced by Bondra who died later when the bat creatures turned against him and Callos.
