[edit] Thomas and Nellie McElroy

Thomas and Nellie McElroy are the parents of Chef. They first appear in the episode "The Succubus", when they come to South Park for Chef's wedding. They appear later in the episode "The Biggest Douche in the Universe" when Chef takes Cartman and his mother to his parents' manor house in Scotland. They perform a shaman-esque ritual to exorcize Kenny's soul from Cartman's body. Their most recent appearance to date is in "Red Sleigh Down", where they are seen in a crowd during the town's Christmas celebration. Interestingly, they are not seen at Chef's funeral in The Return of Chef.

The McElroys' main subject of conversation is their supposed encounters with the Loch Ness Monster. They repeatedly claim that they have seen him on multiple occasions, and are constantly harassed by him, as he tries to swindle them out of "Tree-fiddy" ($3.50). According to Thomas, the monster has pretended to be a girl scout, an alien, and Chef's imaginary friend from childhood.

[edit] Damien

Damien (voiced by Matt Stone) is the son of Satan, and claims to be from the seventh level of hell (which Mr. Garrison believes to be Alabama). Damien has satanic powers which include summoning shadow demons and launching size-varying fireballs from his fingertips. He appears to be based on the character Damien Thorn from the Omen series of films. Whenever he speaks, a choir of voices chanting in Latin can be heard in the background, repeatedly chanting the phrase "Rectus... Dominus..." (which is cod Latin for "Ass Master"). On a couple of occasions, the voices can be heard chanting "Cheesy Poofs", which is a popular snack on the show.

In what is currently his only speaking appearance, Damien comes to the boys' class in the episode "Damien". He claims to be the son of Satan, which is completely ignored by Mr. Garrison, despite his obvious evil powers. After turning Kenny into a duck-billed platypus, he demands to speak to Jesus. After Jesus beats Satan in a rigged boxing match, Damien returns to Hell alongside his father, claiming that he is only evil because he has to be. Subsequently, Damien has appeared in the background of various episodes, and was seen in the movie theater with various South Park children watching Asses of Fire in South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. He was also seen auditioning to be the kids' new fourth friend in "Professor Chaos" after Butters was "fired" and has also been seen taking a drink at Kyle's leaving party in "Smug Alert".

[edit] Farmer Carl Denkins

Farmer Carl Denkins is a farmer, who lives just outside of South Park. He originally appeared in the pilot episode of the series, reporting to Officer Barbrady that his cattle were being mutilated. When the pilot was re cut into the episode "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe", he remained in the episode. He shoots and kills Scott Tenorman's parents for trespassing on his property in "Scott Tenorman Must Die", and played a prominent role in the episode "Fun with Veal" (although he was referred to as Rancher Bob in this appearance). During the run of the series, his chicken fell prey to Chickenlover, his cows have been mutilated by aliens, and have later performed a mass suicide.

God is portrayed on South Park as a Bunyip from Australian Aboriginal mythology, he is a hybrid of a cat, monkey, and hippopotamus, with a reptilian tongue he uses to catch bugs. He can be summoned in Heaven when his name is spoken, and sometimes on Earth, where he appears as beams of light with a deep voice. God is a Buddhist, although only people of the Mormon faith are allowed in Heaven. As the population of Heaven began to dwindle, as told in "Best Friends Forever", God started to allow others into Heaven. This was an attempt to build up Heaven's army to protect God's Kingdom from the increasingly larger Army of Satan. It is said that the PSP was created by God to help find out which human would be the best leader of his army. Kenny, being the best, was killed by God to get Kenny to lead his army with the Golden PSP. Kenny, after being revived & killed over the course of an episode debate, saves Heaven & is honored with a statue of Keanu Reeves. He frequently curses, and isn't hesitant to use his or Jesus' names in vain. Every 2000 years, he comes to Earth to answer one question. He is included as a figure with the South Park series 3 Jesus action figure by Mezco. His voice is provided by Trey Parker.

[edit] Halfy

Halfy (pronounced Half-ee) is an amputee (he has no legs, hence his nickname), who first appeared in the episode "Cartman's Mom is a Dirty Slut". In his early appearances, he would claim that he would have sex with various things/people, only to be told "You don't count Halfy; you don't have any legs", to which he would reply "Oh. Yeah." When he is happy, he jumps into the air and somersaults.

[edit] Midget wearing bikini

Midget wearing bikini (also known as "Midget in a bikini", et al) is a news reporter for the local South Park television station. He has appeared in "Pink Eye" and South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. He is literally a midget in a bikini. Other unusual reporters have such names as "Creamy Goodness", "Hispanic Man With Gravy Stains On His Lapel", "Tom Pusslicker", and "A 34 year-old Asian Man Who Looks Strikingly Similar To Ricardo Montalbán".

Moses is a being for which the Jewish people make macaroni pictures, popcorn necklaces, and soap carvings at the Jewish scout camp in the episode "Jewbilee". He is called out of the fire by an elder and given these tokens. The antagonist Garth puts him in a conch shell before calling upon Haman. Kenny McCormick, who had been banished by Moses for not being Jewish, saves the camp by breaking the conch shell open with his head. Moses also appears in the episode "Super Best Friends". Moses is based on the Master Control Program from the movie Tron.

[edit] Mr. Derp

Mr. Derp appears in the episode "The Succubus" after Chef quits his job. He seems to be a very idiotic person who is described by Matt Stone and Trey Parker as being like a character in a Rob Schneider movie in the DVD commentary. He seems to only serve "yellow stuff" and "white stuff" (although Cartman does order "yellow with a side of white"). His name is derived from the word 'derp' that Stone and Parker used as describing a joke which is easy to predict, from the movie BASEketball. Mr. Derp makes a brief appearance behind the lemonade stand in the episode "Timmy 2000", and can also be seen running out of South Park Elementary and away from global warming in the episode "Two Days Before The Day After Tomorrow".

[edit] Mr. Kitty

Kitty, or Mr. Kitty voiced by comedian Jay Leno in "Cartman's Mom Is a Dirty Slut" and by Trey Parker in all other appearances, is a cat owned by Eric Cartman and his mother Liane Cartman. Cartman often refers to the cat as Mr. Kitty despite the fact that the cat is female. Kitty has gray hair and is a shorthair. Kitty usually tries to get Cartman's food, and Cartman abuses and yells at her. ("No, Mr. Kitty, this is my pot pie. No, Kitty, that's a bad kitty!") In the episode "Spookyfish", an evil Cartman from a parallel universe arrived and was friendly to Kitty. This caused the regular Cartman soon to become cross with them and scare Kitty off. Kitty's most prominent role was in the season three episode "Cat Orgy".

Since "Cat Orgy", Mr. Kitty has been seen infrequently, though she was mentioned in "The Death of Eric Cartman" as being part of the list of people Cartman needed to apologize to in order to reach Heaven when he believed he was dead.

[edit] Mr. Wyland

Mr. Wyland replaced Mr. Garrison in two episodes as the 3rd grade teacher after Mr. Garrison was caught attempting to molest a child in "Cartman Joins NAMBLA". Wyland wears a blue top with a red bow tie. He was first shown in "Cherokee Hair Tampons" and made the class make a get well card for Kyle.

[edit] Ms. Claridge

Ms. Claridge was a South Park Elementary pre-school teacher. Ms. Claridge was disabled and covered in burns after a fire broke out in the pre-school classroom at South Park Elementary. The fire was started when Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny wanted to play "fireman" and asked the "baddest kid in pre-school," Trent Boyett, to start a fire for them. In spite of the boys' efforts to extinguish the fire (by urinating on it), the fire grew out of control and nearly killed Ms. Claridge. Ms. Claridge survived, but was badly injured and placed on a modern chair which very much resembles that of Captain Christopher Pike in the original Star Trek episode "The Menagerie". She cannot speak, and can only communicate by activating the lights and beeps on her wheelchair. If it lights/beeps once it means "yes" and twice means "no." It is not clear how she can function as a teacher if she can only communicate "yes" and "no."

The boys denied all culpability for the fire and Trent Boyett was sent to Juvenile Hall for five years. One day, Ms. Claridge's wheelchair ran out of power in the middle of the road where the boys found her. Seeking to escape Trent Boyett who has been released from Juvenile Hall, they appeal to Stan's older sister Shelley for protection. Shelley agrees, but only if the boys confess to Ms. Claridge their role in the fire. As the boys start to confess to her, Trent Boyett arrives and confronts the boys. Cartman tries to stop him with his mother's taser gun but it accidentally shoots Ms. Claridge. It powers her wheelchair which spins out of control and crashes into a propane shop which blows up and sets her on fire. After crashing into a pet shop and getting attacked by cats, she hits a fire hydrant putting the flames out. The police arrive and ask if Trent started the fire. She replies "no" with two beeps but the police mistake it for "yes yes" and arrest Trent. Ms. Claridge appears briefly in one other episode, "The Death of Eric Cartman", where Cartman, in his efforts to atone for his life's misdeeds, gives her a fruit basket.

[edit] Santa

Santa (voiced by Trey Parker) is, quite simply, South Park's version of Santa Claus. He lives at the North Pole in his Fortress of Solitude, aided two months out of the year by the Underpants Gnomes.

Santa is often shown with South Park's other Christmas-related characters, Mr. Hankey and Jesus. His relationship with the latter has been rocky. In the animated short that started South Park, called "The Spirit of Christmas", Jesus and Santa had a fight to determine what the true meaning of Christmas was---giving or Jesus' birth. With some advice from Brian Boitano, the boys told Jesus that Santa keeps the spirit of Christmas alive, and then told Santa that if it wasn't for Jesus there would be no Christmas at all. The two reconciled, though they would later fight again in "Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics," when Santa felt gypped that there are more Jesus-related Christmas songs than ones about him. Nevertheless they made up again, and Jesus later lost his life to save Santa from Iraqis in "Red Sleigh Down."

Santa is known for not being afraid to get violent to protect the true meaning of Christmas. In "Red Sleigh Down" he was captured by Iraqis and had to shoot his way free, and in "Woodland Critter Christmas" his skill with a shotgun and sledgehammer saved Christmas from the Antichrist.

Another character trait of Santa is his tendency to speak in the third person; e.g., in "Woodland Critter Christmas" he says "Santa's gonna have to kill you!"

[edit] Scott Tenorman

First seen in "Scott Tenorman Must Die", Scott Tenorman (voiced by Toby Morton) first appeared when he tricked Cartman into buying his pubes. After failed attempts at revenge Cartman managed to get Scott's parents killed, ground them into chili and tricked Scott into eating the grounded remains, making Scott cry and subsequently being ridiculed by his favorite band Radiohead (the actual band guest stars). Scott has been referenced and has appeared in various other cameos, such as in "The Death of Eric Cartman", where he is seen crying at his parents' graves, and "Cartoon Wars Part 2" in which Cartman states, "One time, I didn't like a kid, so I ground his parents into chilli and made him eat it." when speaking to "Bart Simpson"

Scott "the Dick" (voiced by Trey Parker) is an occasional recurring character in The Terrance and Phillip Show, the show-within-the-show on South Park. Scott yells at everyone that America thinks it's the police of the world; and that it also thinks it owns Canada. Scott lives in Canada and is known by most Canadians as being a dick. They tell him after he talks, "You're a dick, Scott." He is uptight and short-tempered, especially with Terrance and Phillip's toilet humour. He tends to hate a lot of people and is a loner, never being seen with anyone. He is usually given the job of an advisor, first to Saddam Hussein in "Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus" and then to the new Prime Minister of Canada (who also turned out to be Saddam Hussein) in "It's Christmas in Canada."

[edit] Skeeter

Skeeter is a red-haired townsperson. He has a southern accent, and typically is portrayed as a redneck. He hangs out at the bar a great deal, where he greets newcomers by saying, "Hey! We don't take kindly to" whatever they are. This is generally followed by the bartender replying, "Now, Skeeter, we don't want to cause no trouble..."

He is shown leading various mobs in different episodes, or otherwise appears as a background character or regular townee. His most notable appearances include leading the campaign to "Free Hat McCullough" in Free Hat, and as a war supporter who sings in I'm a Little Bit Country.

[edit] Sparky the Dog

Sparky is Stan's dog. He first appeared in "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride" in which it was revealed that he was gay. Stan was upset that Sparky was gay, so Sparky ran away. In this episode, George Clooney was his voice (despite only saying "woof" in various ways). He has been seen in "Proper Condom Use", in which Stan red rocketed him and "Good Times With Weapons" when his fur was used to disguise Butters. Sparky also makes an appearance in "Woodland Critter Christmas" and is included as a figure with the South Park series 2 Stan action figure by Mezco.

[edit] Skyler

Skyler is a member of the band "Lords of the Underworld" (briefly Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld) and has been seen on two occasions.

In his first appearance, "Cat Orgy," Skyler is seen as Shelley Marsh's boyfriend who she invites round while babysitting Eric Cartman. He invited his band along. Skyler only wanted Shelley for sex, and because of a huge age difference Shelley was reluctant (Shelley is 12 and he is in his 20s). After she refused to have sex he dumped her. Cartman helped her get revenge by trashing his guitar. When he angrily returned to Cartman's house while Shelley was still there, Cartman threw catnip at him, attracting Cartman's cat Mr. Kitty and other neighborhood felines. The cats pounced at Skyler.

Skyler was not seen again until "Timmy 2000," in which his band needed "something" to help them win battle of the bands. They then found Timmy, who turned out to be a great singer despite only being able to shout his name. Jealous of Timmy's popularity (thanks to a discussion started by Phil Collins), Skyler left the band to pursue a solo career titled "Reach for the Skyler". He later rejoined though, and they performed at the South Park Battle of the Bands.

[edit] Starvin' Marvin

Starvin' Marvin (voiced by Trey Parker) is a very thin Ethiopian boy who first appeared in Season One's Thanksgiving special, "Starvin' Marvin".He cannot speak English--though he later learns to say the phrases "sweet" and "yeah I want the Cheesy Poofs!"--but the boys find his clicking ability interesting. Starvin' Marvin was once in the custody of the four boys, but Mr. Garrison reported them and had him sent back to Ethiopia. He later appeared in "Starvin' Marvin in Space", in which he relocated his fellow Ethiopians to the planet Marklar.

[edit] Tom, the News Anchor

Tom the News Anchor has appeared in various episodes of South Park reporting on current events. Other news anchors are also referred to as Tom by the reporters. He often introduces field news anchors by describing their race, gender, age, what they are wearing, their size, and, sometimes, whether they look like someone famous (in a non-specific combination). This is used rather than their name, and the description also seen beneath the anchor's head on the screen. Examples include: a midget in a bikini, a Hispanic man with some gravy stains on his lapel, a quadriplegic Swiss man tied to a pony, and a normal man with a weird name (Creamy Goodness).

[edit] Visitors

The Visitors are "Roswell grey" aliens with slim, silver bodies and egg-shaped heads with large black eyes. The Visitors first appeared in "Cartman Gets An Anal Probe" where they hid a metal satellite dish up Cartman's rectum. They then kidnapped Kyle's little brother Ike. In the end the Visitors returned Ike and it was revealed that they had been studying every type of creature on Earth and discovered that cows were the most intelligent. As a gift, the Visitors gave the cows some sort of device that turns whatever it zaps into a jolly, brain-washed person singing the springer tune (the cows first used it on Officer Barbrady). The Visitors then returned in the episode "Cancelled" to operate on Cartman again. It was revealed that the Visitors had used this dish to send back footage of Earth all around the galaxy, as part of a reality show called Earth, the premise of which is to watch all the various races and species on the planet interact for aliens' amusement.

After appearing in "Cartman Gets An Anal Probe," the Visitors began to appear in various background shots throughout the early episodes; they are supposed to be hidden in nearly half of the episodes to date. (An interesting note is that in shots of the school cafeteria, a picture of a Visitor with the words "Have You Seen Me?" often appears.) Hidden Visitors have become less frequent in later episodes. .
