Luke Steele (born September 24, 1984 in Peterborough) is an English football player. He is a goalkeeper currently playing for Coventry City on loan from West Bromwich Albion.
Steele signed for Manchester United from Peterborough United on June 8, 2002 for £500,000. He went to school at Arthur Mellows Village College, Glinton, Peterborough, where he is still involved in various charity events. He was loaned to Coventry City during the 2004/2005 season, a move that was to be repeated for the 2006/2007 season
For the 2005-06 season he returned to Old Trafford and, following the departures of Ricardo and Roy Carroll, was third choice keeper for the senior side behind Edwin van der Sar and Tim Howard. He became 2nd choice at the start of the 2006/2007 season, behind Edwin van der Sar, following Tim Howard's and Ben Foster's season-long loan moves to Everton and Watford respectively. However, he was initially loaned to Coventry City for the season only to be recalled after less than a week and no appearances to be part of the swap deal which saw Tomasz Kuszczak move from Old Trafford to West Bromwich Albion on loan, where he will compete against Russell Hoult and Pascal Zuberbuhler for the number 1 shirt. New West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray loaned him out again to Coventry City for the remainder of the 2007 season.
He has been selected for the England under-21 squad.
