[edit] History
Maldon Town FC was formed in 1946, with their HQ at the Rose and Crown pub and home pitch at Sadd's Ground. They initially played in the Mid-Essex League before moving on to the North Essex League.
A return to the Mid-Essex League Premier Division saw them win the league title twice in consecutive seasons, around the same time as they moved to the Wallace Binder ground in Fambridge Road. They next played in the Essex and Suffolk Border League, where they were champions in 1965-66, enabling them to join the Eastern Counties League in 1966. In 1972, after finishing second from bottom, they stepped down to the Essex Senior League, where they were league champions in 1984-85.
In 1996 they rejoined the Eastern Counties League, and in their second season gained promotion to the Premier Division. A second place finish in 2003-04 saw them promoted to the Southern League Eastern Division, where they finished in third place to gain promotion at the first attempt, although due to a reorganisation of the English football league system they were placed in the Premier Division of the Isthmian League. In their first season at this level they finished in 20th place and were relegated to Division One North.
