Marco Rossi (マルコ・ロッシ, Marco Rossi^?) is a fictional character from the SNK Playmore's Metal Slug shooter game series. His full name is Marchrius Dennis Rossi and is the main character and protagonist in all the series, appeared in all the titles. He comes from USA but he has Italian roots.

Born in Idaho, USA, Marco is a computer expert who particularly enjoys writing computer viruses and programs, one virus he wrote managed to penetrate all of the US Military's defenses and nearly cause the launch of nuclear missiles. Marco graduated from Military's Special Technologies college and went on to serve in the Peregrine Falcon Special Forces Squad (PF Squad), starting in Metal Slug as First Lieutenant as now in Metal Slug 6, where he is a Major.

Marco is a gentle man but capable of falling into uncontrollable rages; the series' villain General Morden (who is responsible for the deaths of dozens of Marco's friends and colleagues in the PF Squad) will trigger these if he is even so much as mentioned.

Marco appears in this game, being the first time he seens in a fighting game. He has 2 different modes: the normal mode, where Marco uses all his weapons from Metal Slug series, since his normal gun to missiles and his heavy machine gun. The second mode is the "knife mode", where Marco uses only this weapon and can't block. As part of his supers, he can call the famous Metal Slug tank (SV-001) to firing the opponent or simply passing though him. Also, can summon Horyokuma (one of the survivors from MS series) to makes a beam attack, and even Marco can transforms in zombie for a while and shoots a lethal ray.

In the history of this game, Marco joins to Battle Coliseum tournament to stop once again General Morden, who's now financied by WAREZ Corporation to make new plans to conquest the world.

Marco, along with Fio and Mars People, is one of the few characters in the series who appeared in external games, especially in fighting games.
In KOF: Maximum Impact 2, one of Ralf Jones' alternate costumes has him dressed up like Marco [1].
In Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, Marco appears of one of the few characters in the game who doesn't come from past or future age. That could be because Metal Slug chronology fits in the time of the "Battle Coliseum" tournament. Also, Mars People is his partner in this game, having a special picture if you finish the game with both characters.
