Mike Wengren
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mike Wengren is a drummer from Chicago, Illinois, best known for his work with rock band Disturbed. He is one of the founding members of the band, which was formed in 1996.
Born and raised in Chicago, Mike has been playing drums since around the age of 10, when he took some lessons for about a month but didn’t begin to take his drumming seriously until the age of 15.
He has been quoted as saying that Tommy Lee (of Mötley Crüe), Metallica, Slayer, Vinnie Paul (of Pantera), Racer X, and Testament were his strongest influences when he began drumming.
In recent years, he has appeared in ads for Pearl Drums, the brand of drums he has been using since he first started playing drums, and for Evans Drumheads. Additionally, he uses Sabian cymbals and Vater drumsticks.
His previous tour kit was a 'cranberry fade' Pearl MRX Masters Series drumset with black hardware. Mike's Ten Thousand Fists tour kit is a 'vintage sunburst' variation of the same drumset, also with black hardware. The two bass drums have pictures of "The Guy", from Todd McFarlane's Ten Thousand Fists album artwork, on the drumheads.
