[edit] Ancient Walkers
Three powerful entities, the Ancient Walkers hail from ancient times and remain an enigma, often appearing at important crisis times on Mobius. The Brotherhood of Guardians regard them as the only beings in history to attain absolute mastery of Chaos Energy. Appearing in multiple forms, most often as a trio of tiki masks, the three appear to offer advice and task their successors with the defense of Mobius. They most often communicate their wishes through their emissary, Knuckles' great-grandfather Athair. They first appeared to Tails during his journey in Downunda, and later during battles with Mammoth Mogul.
Due to the actions of Mammoth Mogul, who crippled them with his power after escaping the Master Emerald, the Ancient Walkers were destroyed by an interdimensional breach opened by the Arachne wielding the Sword of Acorns, which also allowed Ixis Naugus to escape the Zone of Silence. Before their destruction, they chose Aurora, Athair and Tails' uncle Merlin Prower as their successors.
[edit] Aurora
Allegedly the most powerful deity of Mobius (although Sonic the Hedgehog #163 implied that her might may be inferior to that of the Ancient Walkers) and the Chaos Force, Aurora's appearance depends on who views her. Because the only characters that have encountered her so far are Knuckles and Athair, she has only appeared before as a female Echidna. Aurora appears to Knuckles in the afterlife, after he sacrifices himself to save Dimitri. She shows him visions of his life, which prompts him to leave the afterlife and return home. She also helps him return to his normal red hue, as opposed to the green he would have had for some time. Later, she was one of the three Chaos Beings selected by the Ancient Walkers to replace them when they died, along with Athair and Merlin Prower.
Aurora is one of the mistress of the Ancient Walkers, the other being Athair, who is Knuckles' great-grandfather, and she seems to be rather selective about her intervention. She is fully willing to get involved in her own affairs, but the rest of the time leaves Mobius hanging. Being a deity, she has untold knowledge, including the fact that Knuckles was worthy of a second chance at life. (It should be noted that Knuckles was revived, not reincarnated; in essence, Aurora found Knuckles worthy of coming back to life in the same body that he had died in, at the same age, instead of being reborn as somebody entirely different.)
When Knuckles visited his father's grave during the events of Mobius: 25 Years Later, Locke and Aurora were seen looking down on him as he made the decision to let Lara-Su become a Guardian.
Mammoth Mogul revealed that the Order of Ixis, which he founded, was decimated during the "Forgotten War" with the Albion Knights of Aurora. This organization was named for Aurora, and in their efficient efforts left only Mogul and the three sorcerers who would become Ixis Naugus.
[edit] Amadeus Prower
The father of Miles "Tails" Prower, Amadeus was Second-in-Command of the Royal Guard. He was thrilled at the idea of being a father, but his duty called him away when his wife Rosemary was about to give birth. Having to leave, he told Sonic the Hedgehog, who was a young kid playing nearby at the time, to keep an eye on his house, possibly leading to the friendship between Sonic and Tails. Amadeus' fate took a turn for the worse when he witnessed Dr. Robotnik, at that time Warlord Julian Kintobor, roboticizing someone. Taking it into his own hands to stop him, Amadeus was captured and roboticized.
The roboticized Amadeus was sent home, where he saw his newborn son. Stripped of emotion, he rejected the newborn, only for both himself and Rosemary to disappear. It was only years later that Sonic, on an exodus in space after being transported to another galaxy, ran into them on Argentium, homeworld of the Bem. As it turned out, the Bem scientist Ceneca 9009 had witnessed Robotnik's evil. She abducted Amadeus and Rosemary, and de-roboticized Amadeus. However, Ceneca's Robotizer had been outlawed, and thus she was arrested along with the two foxes. Sonic helped them escape, but they were forced to remain behind as Sonic departed for home on a stolen ship. They sent with Sonic one thing: a watch made for Tails. When Tails received the watch, a hologram of his mother and father appeared. Amadeus encouraged his young son, and expressed the love he had never gotten a chance to while roboticized.
Merlin Prower, Tails's uncle and Amadeus' brother, later brings Tails, Knuckles, and Sonic to Argentium to bring the couple home. With Argentium devastated by a war between the Xorda and the Black Arms, Amadeus returned home, reuniting with his son and returning to his place in the court under King Elias Acorn.
[edit] Archimedes
Fire ant master of the magician's art, Archimedes is the mentor of Knuckles the Echidna. The latest in a long line of fire ants, he is the descendant of Christopheles, mentor and friend to Edmund and Steppenwolf, the original Guardians. Archimedes, like his ancestors and the Guardians, is long-lived, having served as mentor to Knuckles and his father Locke, among others. Archimedes is also one of the few residents of Mobius proper in constant communication with the Brotherhood of Guardians.
Archimedes first appeared when Knuckles and the Chaotix were investigating the Grand Conservatory. Testing their skills, Archimedes proved quite an aggravation -as well as an asset- with his fire-breathing, teleportation, and survival skills. Cast out into the desert of Sandopolis, he teamed with Knuckles to get back to the Conservatory and beat Enerjak. Ever since then, he has been a friend and mentor to Knuckles and the Chaotix. To his friends, Archimedes goes by the nickname Archy (pronounced ar-kee).
Archimedes is a valued member of the Fire Ant Council, the governing body of his people.
[edit] Argyle
Vector the Crocodile's son from Mobius: 25 Years Later, Argyle is described by Vector as being something of a homebody. Like his father, he wears a set of headphones, but his come equipped with antannae. Argyle seems to be somewhat attracted to Lara-Su, and came to her unveiling. Despite Vector's apprehension, Argyle actually made him look bad, dancing with Lara-Su with skill superior to that of the older Crocodile.
[edit] General Armand D'Coolette
Antoine D'Coolette's father, Armand D'Coolette was a high-ranking officer in the Acorn Kingdom Army. He taught his son the art of sword-fighting, and Antoine's uniform once belonged to his father. Sadly, the General was called away by duty, and disappeared, presumed to be dead.
It was only when Sonic, seeking to defeat Robotnik's sub-bosses, arrived in the forest kingdom of Mercia, that he discovered the fate of the General. D'Coolette had been captured by Robotnik and roboticized, serving as the High Sheriff of the area and nemesis of Rob O' the Hedge. Sonic engaged the General in a failed attempt to jar his memory. Unaffected, Armand drove Sonic and co. from the area.
Some time later, General D'Coolette's free will was restored. He reunited with his son Antoine, returning to his old home. However, one obstacle had to be overcome for the memory of the High Sheriff to be put to rest: that of his old foe, Rob. Unaware that the General did not remember his deeds as the High Sheriff, Rob remained in Knothole for some time, to see if his old enemy had really changed. The General proved true, and Rob even departed on good terms with him. As with the majority of Mobius' population, Armand was de-roboticized by the Bem. He returned to duty in the army, but was forced to give up fighting due to poor health after being poisoned by Patch. He eventually passed away, but not before saying goodbye to Antoine and his girlfriend Bunnie Rabbot, voicing his approval of their relationship and imploring them to cherish it.
[edit] Ash Mongoose
Ash Mongoose is the manager and boyfriend of Mina Mongoose. Ash is very competitive with Sonic, partially because Mina told him about her crush on Sonic and how she was hurt when she saw Sally and Sonic kissing , Ash appears to be cold, but Mina really does bring out a warmer side to him. He was initially going to wear tattoos, each tattoo symbolizing something special to him (one would probably be dedicated to Mina as well), however the idea of giving him a tattoo could be seen as a bit mature so the idea was slated. He was born in around the year 3217 and is 19 years old - purposely designed to be a much older love interest for Mina. Ash's own heroic side came into play when Mina was targeted by an assassination attempt by former Chaotix members, Heavy and Bomb. After Heavy had been defeated, only one bomb remained. Ash and Mina found it in her dressing room, and Ash risked his life by grabbing it and diving out the door. Ash was injured, and seemingly comatose. However, as Mina cried over his hospital bed, he awoke with a smile.
[edit] Bernadette
Bernadette Hedgehog, or Bernie for short, is the mother of Sonic the Hedgehog, wife of Jules Hedgehog, and sister-in-law of Charles Hedgehog. Bernie was absent in Sonic's life for many years, and it was only after Robotnik's demise at the hands of the Ultimate Annihilator that she and Jules came forward. As it turns out, Bernie had been roboticized by Robotnik, aided by the roboticized Jules. She pretended, at the time, that she had been messing around with a roboticizer and accidentally been roboticized.
Ten years later, Charles learned the truth after having his will liberated by Sonic. Restoring Bernie and Jules' wills, he formed a secret resistance among roboticizer victims. Bernie reunited with Sonic, and was quick to accept that in her absence Sonic had grown up. Like most of the Mobians, Bernie was de-roboticized by Ceneca 9009.
[edit] Bem
A scientist race from the Archie-published comics, the Bem all appear to be identical females, possibly due to cloning. The Bem travel the galaxy, and on several occasions their journeys have brought them to Mobius. The Bem recovered Shadow the Hedgehog from falling into the atmosphere, restoring him to health and giving him the energy to achieve Super Shadow to hold off the Xorda while they escaped. Later on, Sonic visited the Bem planet of Argentium, also known as Wheel World, where he found Amadeus and Rosemary Prower. Sonic eventually used a Bem wormhole to return to Mobius, finally ending the banishment imposed on him by the explosion of the Quantum Dial. Under the impression that Sonic was a renegade Bem, but unwilling to pursue his one-seater ship into Xorda space, the Bem allowed him to escape. Some time later, Sonic returned to Wheel World with Knuckles and Tails to find it in ruins with the Xorda and the Black Arms fighting in orbit.
[edit] Ceneca 9009
A Bem scientist from a distant galaxy, Ceneca 9009 was the first to invent a safe de-roboticizer. She developed this process to help the population of Biotex, whom were all metallic. Believing this condition unnatural, she used her device on them, only to discover an awful truth: The metallic physiology of the Biotexans had evolved as a defense against lethal microbes in their homeworld's atmosphere. Robbed of the their defense, the Biotexans died out, and the de-roboticizer was outlawed.
After the Bem conducted an experiment with Sonic, Tails, Snively, and Dr. Eggman, the entire Mobian population was roboticized. However, Ceneca 9009 reversed the process with her outlawed device, only to be sentenced to death. However, she was saved by Sonic the Hedgehog, and it was revealed that she had de-roboticized Amadeus Prower and abducted him and his wife Rosemary. Ceneca had hoped this would galvanize her people against Eggman, but instead she was imprisoned.
When Ceneca, Sonic, Amadeus and Rosemary needed to escape, the only vessel they had to take them to Mobius was a one-seater. Despite Sonic's protests, neither the Prowers nor Ceneca would board the vessel. So, they arranged a compromise: Sonic would take the ship back to Mobius. Since his existence was largely unknown to the Bem, they would assume that Ceneca had escaped. In turn, the Bem would not dare follow, out of fear of the dangerous Xorda. Ceneca, meanwhile, remained on Argentium with Amadeus and Rosemary, on the run but safe-until the Xorda and Black Arms devastated Argentium in their conflict.
[edit] Uncle Chuck
Sir Charles "Chuck" Hedgehog is a character from the SatAM and Archie Comics of Sonic the Hedgehog, and is Sonic's uncle. A knight of the Acorn Kingdom of Mobius, Chuck was unwittingly responsible for the rise of the planet's cruelest tyrant. The creator of the roboticizer, a process that turns flesh into metal, Charles hoped to use this technology as a means of curing the sick and allowing people to live longer but discovered to his horror that it robbed people of their free will when he tested it on his wounded brother Jules. The project was stolen by Warlord Julian Kintobor, who declared himself Robotnik and used it to enslave Mobians everywhere after taking control of the capital city Mobotropolis. Chuck was among the first to be robotized. Years later, he regained his free will and was reunited with his nephew Sonic. He worked as a spy for the Freedom Fighters up until Robotnik's defeat.
After the war, Chuck became a member of the main group of Freedom Fighters. He serves as a technical expert, befriending Rotor and his assistant Tommy Turtle. Chuck has had few major roles to play recently, other than helping Sonic defeat a swarm of nanites and working towards a cure for the roboticized Jules.
Chuck also appeared in Sonic Underground as Sonic's adopted uncle. A member of the resistance and working with Sonic to destroy SWATbot factories, he was robotized in the first part of "Beginnings". Although he was robotized in both cartoon and comic, he returned to normal later in the comic series.
[edit] Sir Connery
A paladin of the Ancient Walkers, Connery is a horse, and as such is one of the larger Mobians, and in addition to being formidable fighter armed with the mystical Sword of Light. Connery first appeared to rescue Knuckles from the mind control of two malevolent wizards, Mathias Poe and Damocles the Elder. After saving the Guardian, he went after the two wizards, and later claimed to have killed the two.
Sir Connery later appears as the protector of Merlin Prower while the mage is in possession of Mammoth Mogul's Chaos Emerald. When Mogul escapes and summons an army of minions, Connery joins the Freedom Fighters and the Chaotix in the resulting battle. He becomes engaged in a duel with Mogul and channels his life force into his weapon to destroy both the Sword and Crown of Acorns. Unfortunately, Sir Connery himself perishes in the effort.
[edit] Eddie the Yeti
A yeti who befriended Nate Morgan, Eddie lived in the northern regions of Mobius. When Nate came upon Eddie, he was seriously injured and in danger of dying. Nate saved his life through the use of cyborg components. Eddie became Nate's close companion and protector. However, their happy life ended with the return of Ixis Naugus. In the ensuing battle between Naugus, Sonic, and Tails, Nate's castle collapsed. Eddie managed to save his friends, but at the cost of his own life.
[edit] Councilor Gala-Na
The head politician of the Echidna city, Albion, Gala-Na has the best interests of her people at heart but goes about things the wrong way. She was extremely angry with the Brotherhood of Guardians when they refused to move the populace of Echidnaopolis to Albion, which she proposed in the hopes that the Echidna people would be made whole. She also had the High Sheriff brought to Albion to be disassembled, but he was saved by a team led by Knuckles the Echidna. Because she feared Knuckles' growing Chaos powers, she attempted to have them forcibly removed after having Nic and Nack the Weasels capture him. However, the process was tampered with by Charmy Bee and his fiancee Safron, who couldn't believe that Echidnas outside the Dark Legion were hurting Knuckles on purpose. Thus, Gala-Na's foolishness only resulted in alienating Knuckles and his allies, as well as making his abilities stronger than they were before.
It caused confusion among fans when Gala-Na, who was initially depicted as lilac in colour with light blue eyes and yellow clothing, later appeared red with purple eyes and green clothing.
[edit] Guardian
Featured in the SatAM episode "Super Sonic", the Guardian was a black-cloaked figure with the ability to shoot laser beams and project holographic images from his eyes. The Guardian also seems to have the power to sense the amount of good or evil in someone's heart, as demonstrated by his evaluation of Dr. Robotnik. His name comes from the fact that he was posted as protector of the sleeping wizard Lazaar, patrolling his lair and the surrounding environs of the Forbidden Zone. The only interloper the Guardian didn't show any aggression towards was Sally Acorn; vaporizing a SWATbot persuing her while almost completely ignoring Sally, probably because the Guardian considered the SWATbot to be the more immediate threat. He is extremely committed to his duties, even turning down bribery attempts by Robotnik when he tries to persuade the Guardian to reveal the location of his master's lair. He is last seen entering Lazaar's lair with his master just before the structure disappears at the end of the episode, apparently still loyal to him even though Lazaar is no longer evil.
[edit] Hope Kintobor
Teenage niece of Dr. Robotnik and stepsister of Snively Kintobor, Hope was taken to Knothole after her stepfather and grandmother were robotocized by her uncle. Shadow the Hedgehog spied on her for a time because of her resemblence to Maria Robotnik, but gave up on this after realizing that the two were different and that she was of no use to him, though he will still do everything in his power to protect her from harm. Snively has shown that he actually has learned to care for Hope during his stay in Knothole and tries to convince her to leave Knothole (without revealing the reason being that he is going to help Robotnik destroy it). Whether she listens to her stepbrother's advice or not is currently unknown.
[edit] Isaac
Isaac is a robot from the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series, and his design is simply a golden recolor of E-102 Gamma. He was created in the distant past by Professor Niven Clarke and was subservient to Dr. Ivan Kintobor. Activated when the Xorda aliens launched their first assault on Earth/Mobius, he monitored Kintobor while he was in stasis in his bunker.
Rediscovered by Shadow the Hedgehog and Metal Sonic in the present day, he recounted his experiences of observing history from afar, including the first conquest of Mammoth Mogul and the coronation of the first king of the House of Acorn. He joined Shadow in battling Metal Sonic and Sonic, but was left to his task. Dark Legion rogue Dr. Finitevus was later revealed by Rouge the Bat to have stolen some of Isaac's data. However, Isaac's data had become quite corrupted over time, to the point that he didn't even realize that he was guarding Kintobor's corpse.
[edit] Juanita
Espio's youngest daughter from Mobius: 25 Years Later, Juanita appeared only in a brief mention by Espio and as a cameo at Lara-Su's unveiling, the guests of which included the Chameleon family. According to Espio, she wouldn't mind being a princess, indicating that she either had a crush on Sonic's son Manik or like many young girls dreamed of becoming royalty.
It is unknown whether or not events led to Juanita's existence in the alternate timeline.
[edit] Jules Hedgehog
Sonic's father, Bernadette's husband, and Charles' brother, Jules is the first Mobian in history to go through the roboticizer. Jules had been badly injured in the Great War between Mobians and Overlanders, and Charles put him in the machine to save his life, unaware that Dr. Robotnik had altered the machine. Losing his free will, Jules was made into a mindless tool that Robotnik had the audacity to manipulate into roboticizing Bernie.
Ten years later, Jules' free will was restored by his brother Charles. He rejoined his wife and they helped the Mobian resistance against Robotnik. With Robotnik's demise, Jules met his son for the first time in years. Unfortunately, Jules is having a rough time being a father, as his brother Charles is Sonic's established father figure. Jules seems to have all the rotten luck, as when the Mobians were all de-roboticized, he was the only one who remained in a mechanical state — excluding Bunnie Rabbot, who had previously replaced her roboticized parts for regular cybernetics for health reasons. Sonic found out that due to his injuries sustained before being roboticized, de-roboticizing Jules would prove fatal. Jules, NICOLE, and Bunnie were unknowingly infiltrated by nanites under the control of A.D.A.M. at the behest of Eggman, presumably for intelligence-gathering. A.D.A.M. later uses him in his own plan, which is set in motion when Jules, under control of the Nanites, kidnaps Tails and brings him to a huge 'city' built by the Nanites, and then orders Jules to self-destruct once his task was complete, though Jules takes advantage of a loophole in the order in that A.D.A.M. didn't tell him when to self-destruct, and was able to hold off the process until A.D.A.M. was destroyed and his influence over Jules and the others erased.
[edit] Keeper of the Time Stones
An ancient owl with a massive head clad in a purple cape, the Keeper is responsible for guarding the Floating Island, and specifically the Time Stones, in SatAM. This makes him a counterpart to Knuckles the Echidna, who did not appear in the series. Rather like the legendary sphinx, he requires those who seek the Time Stones to answer a riddle. Once Sally and Sonic answer it, he disappears, leaving them the Time Stones and instructing the two in their use.
[edit] Knecapeon "Kneecaps" Mace the Echidna
Knecapeon, going by the nickname Kneecaps is the the son of Lara-Le and Wynmacher, and the half-brother of Knuckles. Knuckles is rather put off by his new baby brother, for several reasons: his horrible name (Knuckles and Kneecaps?) and habit of hitting Knuckles on the head with his rattle. Kneecaps is a rather stereotypical infant: he loves his rattle - and hitting Knuckles with it - speaks in baby gibberish that most people do not understand, and is inseparable from his mother. Despite his tendency to hit Knuckles with his rattle, he seems genuinely fond of his older sibling.
In Mobius: 25 Years Later, he is understandably more mature, about 25 at the time of the story. He also goes by the more mature name Mace.
[edit] Komi-Ko
A female Echidna who lives in Echidnaopolis. She is the girlfriend of Constable Remington.
[edit] Lara-Le
Mother of Knuckles the Echidna, Lara-Le did not figure prominently in his life until years after his birth. Wife to the Guardian Locke, Lara-Le became furious with her husband when she realized what he had done to their son. Divorcing Locke, she intended to leave with Knuckles, but was forced to give him up. When Knuckles grew old enough to question her absence, Locke simply replied that she was gone. Because of this, Knuckles assumed that she was dead, not thinking that his father's actions had driven her away.
Later, when Echidnaopolis was restored, Knuckles met his mother for the first time. He grew to love her, and the only bit of contention he felt was when she remarried to an Echidna named Wynmacher. Later, Lara-Le gave birth to Knuckles' half-brother, Knecapeon Mace, otherwise known as 'Kneecaps' or 'Mace'. In addition, several alternate futures have named her as the grandmother and namesake of Lara-Su, Knuckles and Julie-Su's daughter.
[edit] Lazaar
Appearing in the SatAM episode Super Sonic, Lazaar was an ancient and evil wizard who kept an extensive inventory of spells, curses, and other magic paraphernalia catalogued within a crystal-like computer. For unknown reasons, Lazaar went into suspended animation and slept for centuries in his boobytrap-riddled lair (later described as 'one ugly condo' by Sonic) within what was known as the Forbidden Zone, itself becoming part of Robotropolis when Robotnik came to power. Lazaar's lair and the Forbidden Zone were patrolled by the Guardian, a mysterious and forboding being whose sole purpose was to eliminate any potential threats to his master while he was asleep. Lazaar was eventually discovered during a Freedom Fighter raid on Robotropolis, Sonic and Robotnik both vying for control of Lazaar's computer; Robotnik managed to get to it first, stealing it and reviving Lazaar in the process, who proceeded to capture Sonic when he arrived later on. It was then revealed that during his centuries-long slumber, Lazaar came to regret the evil he had committed in the past. Sonic then persuaded the wizard to release him so he could get his computer back from Robotnik, though he had to give up his speed as collateral, using his cunning to outwit Robotnik, whom by this time had teleported Sally Acorn and Bunnie Rabbot and brainwashed them to do his bidding. Sonic managed to retrieve the computer and reverse the brainwashing on his friends. Once back at Lazaar's lair, Lazaar returned Sonic's speed to him, but declined the offer to join the Freedom Fighters, opting instead to protect his computer from future threats. When asked why he couldn't just rid himself of the computer, he said that destroying it would unleash all of the evil contained within it, bringing about a great catastrophe.
Lazaar was voiced by Frank Welker and had a speech pattern similar to that of Yoda from the Star Wars films. He is also one of only two wizards mentioned in SatAM, the other being Ixis Naugus.
[edit] Liza
A female Chameleon who appears to be an old friend of Espio's. When Valdez led Robotnik's takeover of the Chameleon community, Liza was Roboticized. Presumably, she was later De-Roboticized by the Bem.
[edit] Mari-An
A female Echidna of the Lost Tribe of Albion, Mari-An first appeared when the tribe arrived in Mercia. To her shock, Mari-An discovered that her brothers, Zax and Raynor, had disappeared. Accompanying Knuckles the Echidna, she set out to find them. The two later split up, and upon their reunion, Knuckles was accompanied by Rob O'The Hedge.
Rob and Mari-An's similar personalities led them to fight atop a log over a nearby river. Mari-An fought to a tie Rob, and the two fell in love. Meeting up with Sonic and Tails, the quintet worked together to save the Tribe from slavery and guide them to Albion. After that, Mari-An decided to remain in Mercia with Rob, whom she later married with the complete approval of her parents. Which she became Amy Rose's cousin. And two later had a child.
[edit] Merlin Prower
Tails' uncle and Amadeus' brother, Merlin is, as his classic name would suggest, a wizard. He was formerly the chief wizard in the Kingdom of Acorn, but hid himself away. Merlin's connection to Tails wasn't established for a long time, as those who met him didn't know his nephew's real name, as was the case when he met Knuckles.
Merlin is a charlatan, for the most part uninvolved with the rest of Mobius. Predictably, he is aware of Athair and the Ancient Walkers, and knows of Tails' destiny as the Chosen One. He first appeared when Knuckles was searching for the Sword of Acorns, and provided the Echidna with some assistance in his efforts. However, he had appeared in the past to Sonic, trading Tails' sneakers for a bag of "shiny stones" that Sonic found. Following his initial confrontation with Chaos Knuckles, an unconscious Tails was brought to Merlin by Athair, who helped him recover for a rematch with the Guardian.
It was only after many years that Tails even learned of his existence, through Athair before his final showdown with Mammoth Mogul took place. Whether they will ever meet his parents is unknown as of now. However, Merlin has come to live in the Kingdom of Acorn, and with Tails hopes to rebuild their family. He came bearing the emerald containing Mammoth Mogul, but unfortunately, it fell into the wrong hands. Mogul escaped, the Ancient Walkers were killed, and Merlin was knocked unconscious. To make up for his failure, he has joined forces with the Freedom Fighers, and was also selected by the Walkers to be one of their successors, along with Athair and Aurora. He was accompanied by Sir Connery, but the Paladin of the Ancient Walkers sacrificed himself to destroy the Sword and Crown of Acorns.
Merlin later used his magic to bring Tails, Sonic, and Knuckles to Argentium, homeworld of the Bem, which was currently caught in the middle of a war between the Xorda and the Black Arms. Reuniting with his brother and sister-in-law, Merlin brought Amadeus and Rosemary home to Mobius and took up residence with them and Tails.
Being a sorcerer, and a rather powerful one at that, Merlin possesses abilities that even his nephew, Knuckles, and Sonic do not know of.
[edit] Mobie
A prehistoric cave-bear. He was frozen in ice for thousands of years until Antoine accidentally discovered him. Mobie was thawed out and lived in Knothole Village briefly, where he communicated to the Freedom Fighters through paintings. However, adjusting to the civilized life proved too much for Mobie and he ended returning to the wild. Mobie is also shown in a flashback of Mammoth Mogul's, where it is revealed that he was one of the ones who forced Mogul into exile prior to the formation of the Order of Ixis.
[edit] Monkey Khan
Monkey Khan, originally named Ken Khan, is a monkey that appears to be a rather erratic individual. In his early life he lived in a village of pacifists, wanting to distance theirselves from the war between the Kingdom of Acorn and the Overlander city of Megaopolis.
Ken didn't exactly fit in due to his boistorous nature, earning the ire of his father; Lord Lu. Ken pointed out that he was good at fighting and totally rejecting violence was impractical due to the risk of war. His father explained his reasons but soon Julian Kintobor arrived, wanting to use the villagers as test subjects for experiments in cyborg technology (a predecessor to roboticization).
Ken was the only one strong enough to survive the process. To test his abilities, Julian directed him against an Overlander platoon, one that ended up scattering before the monkey's assault. However, he proved strong enough to resist Julian's orders, causing him to be sealed in a metal crate. Sally inadvertently released him years later, now going by the name of Monkey Khan. Upon hearing of Robotnik's involvement in his creation, Sonic instantly assumed him to be an enemy, but the two soon made up.
Sonic and Tails later encountered him in his old village, which appeared to have been re-settled. He appears to have settled down. However, with the coming of Robo-Robotnik it was torched and its inhabitants roboticized. Monkey Khan vowed vengeance, seemingly taking it out on the Overlanders that had arrived outside Robotropolis. He appeared to want them to be roboticized, revealing his erratic nature. He flew off upon seeing them enter, stating that he'd soon have his revenge.
Monkey Khan was seen fighting the Xorda in the Sonic Adventure 2.5 arc but hasn't been seen since, nor has any more insight been given into his motives.
[edit] Muttski
Muttski is Sonic's loyal pet dog, who like Uncle Chuck was roboticized prior to Sonic joining the Freedom Fighters. Muttski was one of Sonic's more feared antagonists, because Sonic did not wish to harm his faithful pet. Eventually, Muttski was freed from Robotnik's control, and took up residence in Knothole, once again becoming Sonic's close companion. Like all of the roboticized Mobians except Jules Hedgehog and the partially roboticized Bunnie Rabbot, Muttski was deroboticized by the Bem. An interesting development: during Sonic's time spent in space (six weeks to him, a year to everyone else) he received an implant that allowed him to understand and speak to aliens. Back home, the implant now allows him to speak with Muttski and understand what he's saying. Muttski's abilities are those of the average dog, though his speed and strength were enhanced by his robotization. Muttski's closest friend besides Sonic is the hedgehog's adoptive "brother" Tails. This is proven true when the two spend a day together.
Muttski is almost exclusive to the Archie comics, only making a brief cameo appearance in the SatAM pilot episode Heads or Tails wherein Sonic encounters him during a mission to Robotropolis, managing to spend a fleeting moment with him during a short lapse in the mind control inflicted on all roboticized beings. Once Muttski was back under Robotnik's control, Sonic vowed not to rest until he found a way to return him and all the other roboticized citizens to normal again.
[edit] Nate Morgan
Nathaniel "Nate" Beauregard Morgan, is an elderly Overlander met by Sonic and Tails during their quest to defeat Ixis Naugus. Nate has a big role in the past of the House of Acorn, as he became the Minister of Science following his exile from the Overlanders, which was due to an explosion that his research caused. Nate discovered the method of forging Power Rings, and passed the secret to his student, Sir Charles "Uncle Chuck" Hedgehog. After the efforts of Warlord Kodos and Ixis Naugus raised anti-Overlander sentiment, Nate departed, disappearing until he was found by Sonic and Tails years later.
After Naugus' defeat was accomplished, Nate traveled with Sonic and Tails back to Mobotropolis, where it was revealed that he was an old friend of the royal family. When Dr. Eggman took his predecessors place, Nate's expertise in science proved valuable to the Freedom Fighters on many occasions. Nate was roboticized, causing him to become immobile. He was in Robotropolis during its destruction and likely perished.
Nate was originally intended to be a regular in the Saturday morning cartoon, but was removed later on in production.
[edit] Nic the Weasel
Nic the Weasel, full name Nicolette, is the younger sister of the more well known Nack the Weasel. As his sibling, Nic is determined to prove herself a better bounty hunter than him. Because of this, the two seldom work together, though on certain occasions they have teamed up, such as their work in capturing Chaos Knuckles.
Nic formed her own mercenary group with Bark the Polar Bear, Bean the Dynamite, and Fiona Fox. She later helped save Ray the Squirrel from a prison, intending to steal the Power Gem kept there. However, it was destroyed, and she wanted payment from the squirrel. However, his friend Mighty the Armadillo paid Nic back instead. Following Fiona's defection to the Freedom Fighters, Nic's group has fragmented.
Nic dresses in similar style to her brother, with a cowboy hat, boots, and gloves. The only difference is a sleeveless belly shirt, which goes with her feminine nature. Nic also has a ponytail, but other than that is virtually identical to Nack. Like Nack, she is also an expert sharpshooter.
[edit] Constable Remington
Chief Constable of the Echidna Security Team (EST), Remington is just below Knuckles in maintaining law on Angel Island. Remington is the one Knuckles frequently turns to when his usual methods fail to work, and Remington's underworld resources have been helpful in the past. Because of his position, Remington often finds himself pitted against the Dark Legion, to whom he has a secretive connection. Unbeknownst to him, Remington is in fact the son of the late Grand Master Kragok. Technically, this makes him a distant relative of Knuckles and the Brotherhood of Guardians.
Remington was unwilling to believe that Knuckles had come back from the dead, and ordered his team to exhume the Guardian's grave, which was found to be empty. When the Robotnik-backed Dingoes took control of Angel Island, Remington was imprisoned until he and others were liberated by Sonic, Knuckles and the Chaotix and brought to the safety of the Dark Legion base. During Hunter's subsequent attack on the Legion to steal the Master Emerald for Robotnik, Remington attempted to hold him off, only to be seemingly vaporised by the Overlander's Chaos Spear. In truth, he and Hunter's other victims had in fact been teleported via Chaos Control to Robotnik's Egg Grape Chamber, where their life energies were slowly leeched to power the scientist's weapons. Remington was later drawn into the Zone of Silence by a dimensional tear generated by the Sword of Acorns.
Constable Remington has not appeared in any future storylines of the comic, but in one possible future Julie-Su claimed that he had killed Knuckles so as to not reveal what had truly happened to Knuckles to her daughter, Lara-Su
[edit] Rob O' the Hedge
Rob O' the Hedge is a minor character in the Sonic the Hedgehog series universe, appearing as the cousin of heroine Amy Rose. Similar to (or rather, a parody of) Robin Hood, Rob O' the Hedge hides in a forest and poses resistance to Antoine's roboticized father, a despot who lives in a castle and oppresses the citizens of the area. Rob appears to be similar in appearance to Sonic, despite the fact that they are not related.
Rob appears several times in the storyline, usually getting involved with members of the Freedom Fighters or the Chaotix. He also harbored a deep hatred for Antoine's father, General D'Coolete. This was completely unwarranted, as the General had regained his free will and could not even remember being the enemy of Rob. After a while, Rob reconciled, and even departed on good terms with the General.
Rob later accompanied Knuckles the Echidna and the Lost Echidna Tribe to Albion. Along the way, he met Mari-An, a female Echidna who was very similar to him in personality. The two bickered, ending in a fight on a nearby log over a creek. Rob was knocked into the creek, and when the two again met eyes, it was love at first sight. The two became married, Rob's only warning from Mari-An's parents being to take care of her, and live in Mercia guarding the entrance to Albion. They also have a child. He was seen at Amy's Freedom Fighter induction ceremony, commenting on his cousin's "good form".
Like the Fleetway comic version of Amy, Rob is a skilled archer, wielding the Robin Hood-style bow and arrows.
[edit] Rosemary Prower
Tails' mother, Rosemary is the wife of Amadeus Prower. During Robotnik's initial takeover, she was pregnant with Tails. While she was giving birth, Amadeus was Roboticized. Under Robotnik's command, Amadeus went to his wife and newborn son. Stripped of free will and emotion, he rejected the infant, leaving Rosemary to cry herself to sleep. Later, Roesmary herself was abducted, and likely would have suffered Robotization.
However, Rosemary was saved when she and Amadeus were teleported to a Bem ship under the command of Ceneca 9009. The Bem scientist De-Roboticized Amadeus, and took the two before the Bem Council on Argentium to plead for Bem action against Robotnik. The plee was denied, and Ceneca was imprisoned for use of her outlawed Robotizer.
Sonic later met Rosemary and Amadeus during his six week journey through space. After helping Ceneca 9009 escape, the group was left with a one-person craft. Refusing to leave her husband behind, Rosemary remained on Argentium as Sonic returned to Mobius. However, she and Amadeus recorded a message for their son into a watch that Sonic delivered to Tails some time after his return. Some time later, following Argentium's devastation at the hands of the Xorda and the Black Arms, Rosemary was reunited with her son when Merlin Prower, her brother-in-law, brought Tails, Sonic, and Knuckles to Argentium to retrieve her and Amadeus. Afterwards, they returned home to Mobius, allowing the broken family to heal at last.
[edit] Rosie
Rosie is Sally's nanny. She appeared only a few times in Sonic SatAM after Sonic and Sally went back in time to stop Robotnik and save Mobius. In the cartoon, Sally saved her life and free-will by telling her to stay in Knothole (in the original timeline, when she left she was captured and robotisized. Luckily, Rosie took her advice and when they returned to the present day, she was with the Freedom Fighters.
She has only a very small part in the Archie comic because her character was shown very fleetingly on Sonic SatAM. However, she does have one comic to herself, in which she narrates a story to three young and clever children (Rory the brown bear, Snaggle the tiger, and Sasha the kitten). The comic cameos Sonic, Sally and Tails as the main protagonists, and Eggman as a evil Rasputin-type monk. Part of the story consists of Eggman stealing on of Tails' tails, and Sonic and Sally (who fall in love at the end of the story, much to the confusion of the audience) try getting it back.
[edit] Sabina
Mother of Dulcy the Dragon, Sabina appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon and Archie Comics. In SatAM, she has tan scales and a spiky brown ridge on her head. In the comics, she looks like an older version of Dulcy. She only appears twice in the cartoon; during the two-part "Blast to the Past" episode and in "Dulcy", the latter being the only time she's shown speaking. In "Blast to the Past", Sonic saves her from being captrued by Robotnik's forces, a favor she later repays by helping to bring down Robotnik's Destroyer airship. Her fate is never clearly revealed in the cartoon, but the Archie Comics show her to have been captured and roboticized along with many others of her kind, whom were then destroyed in an ill-fated attempt to invade the dragons' underground sanctuary and roboticize its' inhabitants, whom are able to repel the incursion and melt the roboticized dragons with a massed volley of flame breath. At first Dulcy believes that this has caused the death of her mother and the other roboticized dragons, but one of the elder dragons reveals that a dragon's spirit is eternal, and that Sabina and all the others would be reincarnated in future generations.
[edit] Salma
Salma is one of two daughters Espio is known to have in the Mobius: 25 Years Later storyline. His oldest daughter, she is the girlfriend of Lien-Da's son Rutan and is also close friends with Lara-Su, Sonia and Manik. On the night of Lara-Su's unveiling, she and Rutan were making out in Locke's park when they overheard Knuckles and Rotor discussing an alliance between Angel Island and the Kingdom of Acorn.
Later on, Lien-Da confronted the couple about what they had been doing that night. Dodging defensively, Salma claimed that she had been sleeping over at Lara-Su's. Later, she actually took part in the sleep over that Lara had with several other friends.
Salma did not appear in the alternate future of the second Mobius: 25 Years Later arc. Her appearance was that of a teenage, purple Chameleon with long black hair. Her outfit consisted of a sleeveless pink belly-top and a pair of shorts, together with shoes of a darker purple and white gloves.
[edit] Tommy Turtle
Tommy Turtle is a character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series fictional universe, appearing in the Archie comics continuity. Tommy taught Sonic a valuable lesson in humility when he beat him in a foot race. The event went down very much like the classic "Tortoise and the Hare" fable.
He was a friend that the Freedom Fighters had believed dead until recently. Sonic found that he was in the company of several villains, who were working for Dr. Robotnik. After Robotnik betrayed the villains, Tommy apparently gave his life to save Sonic. However, a year later, Sonic and company met an identical turtle claiming to be Tommy. They trusted "Tommy" until he was exposed as an evil robot, called an infiltrator. Inspection of the robot suggested that the actual Tommy was alive and in the clutches of Robo-Dyne Systems. Once they rescued Tommy, he became a member of the Brain Trust portion of the Freedom Fighters. He is good friends with Rotor Walrus. He is one of the few Freedom Fighters to call Tails "Miles", because he knew Tails when he was very young, but not while he was growing up. As a result of coming into contact with his tears and an electric shock, nanites became bonded to Tommy's shell. As a result, he gained bionic abilities.
However, this seemingly beneficial transformation was revealed to be part of a larger scheme hatched by A.D.A.M. After Robotnik exposed his "son" as a traitor, A.D.A.M. used the nanites to take control of Tommy's body and use him as a host. Tommy later gave his life to save his friends and was destroyed along with A.D.A.M., shortly after Dr. Eggman commanded the Egg Fleet to fire at will at the metal turtle.
[edit] Wynmacher the Echidna
A resident of Echidnaopolis, Wynmacher is Lara-Le's second husband and Knuckles the Echidna's stepfather. Despite the mild tension caused by his mother remarrying, Knuckles has no ill feelings towards Wyn, and Wynmacher has no problems at all towards his stepson and his wife's former in-laws. Wynmacher and Lara later had a son, Kneecapeon Mace, Kneecaps for short, and in the dark days of Robotnik's domination, the three are inseparable. Wyn is also a fanatic when it comes to the prophecy of the Avatar, whom the general populace of Echidnaopolis believe is Knuckles. This leads Wyn to constantly call Knuckles "Avatar," despite Knuckles' protests.
Despite his aristocratic appearance, Wyn is not afraid to do work. He helped Knuckles subdue a group of Dingoes holding him and Lara hostage during Echidnaopolis' return to Mobius proper. When Knuckles complimented his tackle, Wyn replied, "I played varsity!" This skill, along with his cooking expertise, came from his college days.
[edit] Trivia
- Archimedes's name comes from the Greek philosopher who discovered the principles of water displacement while taking a bath (and subsequently ran naked through the streets shouting "Eureka!") His nickname may be a reference to Archie Comics.
- Sir Connery's name is possibly a reference to British actor Sean Connery.
- The Robian personality of General D'Coolette is likely based on the Sheriff of Nottingham.
- Gala-Na would have been made a Robotnik sub-boss in issues following #134 had the plot idea gone through, but it appears to have been scrapped.[1]
- Prototype storyline following issue #134 included Shadow taking up a guardian angel role for Hope, until an incident in which he nearly killed Robotnik caused her to fear him.
- According to Knuckles' Archie character profile, Lara-Le is from the House of Arian, presumably a family in Echidnaopolis named for a historically important ancestor.
- Mari-An's name is clearly a pun of Maid Marian, the romantic interest of Robin Hood, with Rob and Mari-An serving as an Archie parody to the classic story.
- According to a scrapped storyline from Archie, Monkey Khan would eventually have begun training Knuckles in martial arts, only to be forced into a battle with his student after Dr. Eggman took control of him using the code word "Bananas".[2]
- A cancelled storyline shown in an article on Sonic HQ would have featured Nate Morgan returning, having survived the nuclear attack on Robotropolis and having been De-Roboticized, allied with Coconuts. Ridden with amnesia, Nate would create mechanical villains including Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles, Tails Doll, and Metal Amy.[3]
- Rob and Mari-An's battle is clearly based on the story of Robin Hood's initial meeting with Little John.
- Despite Remington's imprisonment, fan speculation is that he is the mysterious Grand Master of the Frost Legion, as evidenced by said leader's distinctive hair. The leader's resemblance to Kragok could be explained as Remington being Kragok's son. If this is true, it indicates that Remington escaped the Egg Grape Chamber, learned about his Legion heritage, and decided to embrace it.
- Keeping up with many other Star Wars references in the comics, Wynmacher wears an outfit similar to Darth Vader, sans the helmet.
- Cancelled story ideas by Archie included Wynmacher also being taken prisoner due to Hunter's attack, leaving Lara to raise Kneecaps with the help of Locke.[4]
- Issac's gold color may be a reference to Johnny 5 from the Short Circuit films, mainly the second film where Johnny 5 is given a gold color. His name is a reference to "I, Robot" author Isaac Asimov.
