[edit] Name
Over 300 years ago, The most powerful indian tribes in New York State were the three elder members of the Iroquois nation- The Mohawk, the Onondaga, and the Seneca.
In 1956, With the intention of transferring some of the greatness and glory of the original bearers to the new namesake, the first three letters of each tribes name were assimilated into a unique designation; Only one letter was changed to make the name MOHONASEN. From this Iroquois association and heritage, too, came the nickname Mighty Warrior and the familiar native american figures seen around the school - Totem 2006 (yearbook)
[edit] History
Before the 1920s many schools were located in Rotterdam New York. In 1920 Carman School 4 was renamed to Mohonasen. On the other side of town were both Draper and Schalmont. In the 1980s both Mohonasen and Draper merged and kept the name and campus of Mohonasen. The school hit its peak of students in the 1970s where at one point over 4000 students attended. During the 1970s, along with Shaker High School which is located in Latham, New York, they created the Suburban Council which is known as New York’s toughest sports council. The Suburban Council now caters to schools such as Guilderland (Guilderland Center New York), Columbia (East Greenbush New York) and Burnt Hills (Burnt Hills New York). Up until today Mohonasen passes a standard of excellence.

[edit] SuperNerd Productions
Created by a group of nerds in the may of 2006, wwww.supernerdproductions.com was formed with the intention of bringing comedic entertainment to their peers. Throughout the year the site increased in popularity and in the february of 2007 the group performed in the school's talent show. Sadly, the supernerds will be leaving the school at the end of the 2007 school year and the school as we know it will change forever.
