New York State Route 340 is a state highway in southeastern Rockland County, New York. Though it's marked as an east-west route, it actually runs north and south from New York State Route 303 in Orangeburg, New York through Palisades, New York at the New York-New Jersey border.

[edit] Route description
Southeast of NY 303, Route 340 is named Orangeburg Road. In Sparkhill which is west of Piermont, Route 340 encounters a high bridge that carries US 9W. Local connecting roads in the area make accessing Route 9W much easier.
South of US 9W, Route 340 becomes Carteret Road as it crosses the Palistades Interstate Parkway, and heads towards New Jersey, where it becomes Bergen County Road 501.

[edit] Miscellanea
Route 340 is actually tied to another New York State Route through Bergen County Road 501. That road is New York State Route 440. The only trouble is that it's connected to New Jersey State Route 440 in Bayonne, before it crosses back into Staten Island.
