BBC - HTML entities
Hi,
Something to do with whatever you use to edit the Wiki is seriously screwing up the pages you edit - on the BBC, ampersands and triangular brackets were converted to HTML entities - when the triangular brackets were being used for HTML comments and the ampersands being used for HTML entities themselves!
You may be using a browser that isn't up to the task, or have something else unusual installed. Could you try to get this fixed? --Kiand 00:03, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

Deleted article Haley Delgado
Hi Obli,
The correct place to nominate these for deletion would be WP:IFD, where you can cite "OR" and "UE" (orphan and unencyclopedic) as the reasons for these images. If you have any problems, just let me know and I can nominate these images myself. I'm still a newbie admin, and I know deleting images is much harder to undo, so I'd rather not speedy delete them right now. --Deathphoenix 01:48, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Use subst for user warning templates.
When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 18:42, Jan. 25, 2006
Yeah, that doesn't mean use subst for everything, basically for anything that takes the place of a manually written talk page message. That way the content won't change when somebody edits the template, which could be confusing to newbs. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 22:04, Jan. 25, 2006

Thanks again. I think I may be getting the hang of this thing. I noticed you put the Fink album up for me, thanks. I couldn't figure out how to redirect. I may lose some pictures due to copyright issues, I'll understand sooner or later. Kevin 21:49, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

I noticed that this user added nonsense to The London page yesterday, and left a polite note on the page. Nonsense has again been added today from the same IP. Will you please issue a sterner warning before it becomes habitual please? Best wishes, Lion King 20:02, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Esperanza!
Welcome, Obli/archive2, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of FireFox, Flcelloguy, Titoxd, and Karmafist. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!
Random articles
I suspect you're right about the Random Articles idea - it doesn't seem to have any community-building aspect to it, so it probably doesn't fit Esperanza's remit (although you could drop Celestianpower a note about it).
It would make a good WikiProject, though. I know I and quite a few others already do Random Article cleaning, so a WikiProject, which would give people the opportunity to boast about each article they've done, maybe add a nice template to put on the talk page of a cleaned article, you know: "This article was cleaned and wikified for the benefit of everyone by a member of WikiProject: Random Articles", that type of thing, would probably work. Although I'd be reluctant to sign up to do it every day! ➨ ❝REDVERS❞ 21:05, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

I see. I guess I post using a messy method.
I have always hoped for more help in cleaning up which usually does occur before long.
I imagine there are many more interested in this technology as well.
I will just put down more links to other webpages on those pages.
Thanks for the advice.

hi, i am using the the google search hack (e.g., "site:en.wikipedia.org refid") to search all the refid links on wikipedia, but i am still not sure about the ill effects of such links or how this will affect wikipedia. pls clarify --vineeth 17:09, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Another Esperanzial note...
Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".
The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.
Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

iTunes referals
Hi Obli,
thanks for the referal suggestions. I had a look for iTunes music store URLs with referrer IDs in them, and I found a grand total of 6! Excitement! I'll add a check for iTMS to my script anyhow. I saw your message about Barnes and Noble and Newegg, and I'll check those in a little bit. Cheers, Cmdrjameson 22:07, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Obli, just following up on my earlier post. It turns out the &originStoreFront *isn't* a referral. It defines which version of the iTMS to look in (eg the Australian, UK, French store etc). It's also written as &s=... sometimes. Cmdrjameson 23:42, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi -- you've put a cleanup blurb on Zaara. I'd be happy to do the work, if you could be a little more specific about what needs fixing. Or does placement of the blurb begin some sort of automated clean-up process? Thanks! -- Lisasmall 10:33, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

re Drug images
Thanks for the appreciation of lymecycline.png - I have been knocking into some shape the various articles on tetracycline antibiotics. I mirror-inverted some of the pictures to give some consistancy. The particular picture you identified was a by-hand modification of the existing images in wikipedia, using as a guide the picture I found in DrugBank. I think DrugBank is copyrighted, so I do not use their pictures directly (theirs would have needed inverting and adding in the missing Hydrogens (ie.e where as a group -O shown, vs =O). So no sorry, I do not have any molecule drawing program, but I'm sure if you put a request at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Drugs, someone might be abe to advice you.David Ruben Talk 03:15, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Re: User namespace templates
Thanks for the advice. I try to use subs as much as possible, but forgot to in that case. I thought that maybe the user in question was trying to create a User page and I saw that you had already added a welcome message so I decided to add the style template to give him/her some more pointers. I have recorded the polish pronunciation of the name Józef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski, in the ogg format using the audiocity programm. The file needs some work like cutting out white noise, and since I am unfamilliar with the audiocity programm I was unable to do that. Send me an email at [mail address edited out] and I will send you the ogg. file I have created. Mieciu K 13:17, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
