Pac-Attack is a puzzle game in the vein of Columns and Dr. Mario. It was adapted from Cosmo Gang the Puzzle, an arcade game released in the previous year.
Released by Namco, it features Pac-Man in various colors, as the playing pieces, with the Ghostmonsters as obstacles.
The game was published in the early 1990's for Game Gear, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Game Boy, and Super NES. Although Cosmo Gang the Puzzle was released to the arcades, there was never an arcade version of Pac-Attack.
It has been released on various Namco anthologies such as Pac-Man Collection and the Namco Museum series.
[edit] Overview
On a Tetris-like board the player drops blocks consisting of Ghosts, Blocks, Pac-Men, and one Fairy (if your Fairy Meter is full) to the ground. The objective is to not let the blocks overflow, let Pac-Man eat the ghosts, and make lines to shorten the amount of blocks on the board. When Pac-Man eats a ghost, the Fairy Meter goes up. Once full, in the Pac-Man Bar (diagram that shows when next Pac-Man appears) the Pac-Man icon disappears and changes into a fairy icon. Once on board, when it hits something, it waves its wand and several lines below of anything disappear. Once the fairy disappears, the score bonus is given, and gameplay continues.
