Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (born January 12, 1972), a member of the Nehru-Gandhi political family, is the daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter of Indian Prime Ministers. She was born in Delhi to leader of the Congress Party of India and the President of the Indian National Congress, Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. She is married to Robert Vadra and they have two children, Raihan and Miraya.
Priyanka is often compared to her charismatic grandmother and former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.
She attended Modern School, New Delhi, and holds a degree in psychology from Delhi University.
In the 2004 parliamentary elections, she was her mother's campaign manager and helped supervise her brother Rahul Gandhi's campaign. She has been quoted several times saying "I have said it a thousand times, I am not interested in joining politics...". But lately (June 2004), she has indicated that she will bear responsibilities in the Congress Party in the state of Uttar Pradesh, and this has also been reported in the media. In a recent campaign speaking to the BBC she said: "I am very clear in my mind. Politics is not a strong pull, the people are. And I can do things for them without being in politics". She makes regular trips to her mother's and brother's constituencies of Amethi and Rae Bareilly and deals with constituents.
