Purdue University Calumet as a whole has been accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools continuously since 1969.[3]
ABET has continuously accredited Purdue University Calumet's following bachelor's degrees since the date listed: Computer Engineering 2004, Construction Technology 1972, Electrical Engineering 1980, Electrical Engineering Technology 1976, Industrial Engineering Technology 1972, Manufacturing Engineering Technology 1994, Mechanical Engineering 1980 and Mechanical Engineering Technology 1972. ABET has continuously accredited Purdue University Calumet's following associates degrees since the date listed: Architectural Technology 1982, Civil Engineering Technology 1972, Electrical Engineering Technology 1972, Industrial Engineering Technology 1972, Manufacturing Engineering Technology 1994, and Mechanical Engineering Technology 1972.[4]
The School of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education [5]NCATE and offers programs approved by the state of Indiana.[6]
The School of Management is accredited by International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) [7] and North Central Association (NCA) [8].

Purdue University Calumet first opened for classes at its current site in 1951 after having started offering classes in Hammond in 1946. Purdue University Calumet awarded its first two-year degree in the spring of 1967.
[edit] Athletics
Purdue University Calumet teams are members of NAIA (Division II) and compete within the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Intercollegiately, Purdue University Calumet sponsors a men's basketball team and a women's basketball team, called Peregrines and Lady Peregrines, respectively.
The basketball teams were NAIA Division I until November, 2006 when the school announced [9] that they were dropping to NAIA Division II status for 2007.
Also two club teams have formed for Baseball [10] and Softball which have plans to be school sponsored NAIA members by 2008.

Purdue University Calumet is located on 194 acres (0.785 km²) in Hammond, Indiana with an extension center in Merrillville, Indiana. Purdue University Calumet's main Hammond campus is 25 miles southeast of the Chicago Loop.
