Richard Shaw (born 11 September 1968 in Brentford) is an English professional football player, he currently plays for Millwall.
Shaw started his career at Crystal Palace, coming up through their youth system. He enjoyed a brief loan spell to Hull City before becoming a major part of the first team, playing in the final of the 1990 FA Cup. Crystal Palace were a Yo-yo-club at the time, hence Shaw experienced several promotions and relegations in his time at the club. He earned a move to Coventry City in November 1995 for £1,000,000. He has since performed consistently for Coventry over 10 years, making over 350 appearances to date, and still playing at the age of 37. he scored his first goal for Coventry after over 250 games and has still only scored the one goal for the club. He won the Player of the Year at the club in 1998/99 and Players' Player of the Year in 2002/03. Having spent 10 years at Coventry he is sure not to be forgotten by the fans who have given him a legendary status and his testimonial match against Celtic F.C. on 11 April 2006) was a big success, with Coventry ending as 3-1 winners over the Scottish champions. Despite initial hopes that he would play at least one more season with Coventry, Shaw was released at the end of the 2005-06 season, with his final appearance being against Cardiff. He went on to sign for Millwall on June 29 2006.
