The Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design (RMCAD) is in Lakewood, a suburb of Denver, Colorado, USA. The college was founded in 1963 by Philip J. Steele, an artist and teacher.
RMCAD is a four-year, fully accredited college, and hosts programs in graphic design and digital media, animation, interior design, illustration, art education, and fine arts majors of photography and video, sculpture, ceramics, and painting.
RMCAD's campus contains eighteen historical buildings built in a variety of 20th-century architectural styles. Special learning facilities include a woodshop, ceramics studio, photography lab, professional sound studio, 283-seat auditorium, 35-seat audiovisual theater, large meeting rooms, and a Library/Resource Center.
Notable faculty include Katherine and Michael McCoy, who have recently won the Design Minds award from the Smithsonian Institution's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. The Graphic Design chair Fred Murrell, was the Vice-President of Design for Sapient (NASDAQ), and the Design Director for Corning Inc. and Texas Instruments. Fine Arts faculty include Clark Richert (painting), Martha Russo (ceramics), Michael Arnold Mages (digital media), and Rebecca Vaughn (sculpture).
