[edit] Fourth largest city in Maryland?

According to both the Rockville and the Frederick articles, they are both the fourth most populous cities in the state of Maryland. Which is larger? And which census updates are used to determine these? Alex 05:43, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

The numbers have recently changed, based on census figures released on June 30th of this year. Up until that point, Frederick was the third most populous city (behind Baltimore and Gaithersburg), but the new report has had it slip behind Rockville. The difference, however, is pretty insignificant: according to the 2004 data available on the U.S. Census Bureau website, Rockville's total residency is 57,100, compared to Frederick's 57,009 (data available here, in Excel spreadsheet format). I'll update the page and add a reference to reflect this. – Seancdaug 14:25, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

To further complicate matters, the Rockville web site claims that the city is the fifth largest based on 2003 figures. The problem is that I can't find detailed demographics on the newer numbers (families, households, racial, gender, etc.), and it feels wrong to present numbers based on two different figures. Is this section really necessary? Especially the bit about price, that isn't even filled in. It seems like it would be liable to change too rapidly to really be appropriate. The schedule is available at http://www.amtrak.com/timetable/oct06/P29.pdf if anybody cares enough to edit it in, but I don't think it's useful. I deleted the following as it was specific to Cumberland, MD, about 175 miles away. Maybe it got pasted in along with information about commuter rail? Anyway, none of it had anything to do with Rockville, MD:

The primary public transportation in the City of Cumberland is bus service provided by Allegany County Transit. This service is fairly extensive, consisting of five scheduled routes that reach most areas of the City and providing access to most public facilities. The bus depot is located in the South End to the west of Virginia Avenue on Lafayette Avenue. The Allegany County Transit Authority also serves LaVale, Frostburg, Lonaconing, Mt. Savage, and Cresaptown.

Sorry, it appears I've messed up somehow; I got a friendly advisor regarding the content of my post, but I haven't been able to identify the violation. Can you please help me out? The article states that Schleswig-Holstein is one of the city's sister cities. However, Schleswig-Holstein is a state in Germany. I am not familiar with the true arrangement; however, a sister city cannot be a state. Please correct this. 71.176.143.119 03:01, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
