Rosalie Lamorlière is a character of the anime, Lady Oscar. She's based from a person who truly existed in history; a peasant woman who worked taking care of Marie Antoinette in her last days; her background in the series is completely fictionalized, though.
Rosalie Lamorlière was the adoptive daughter of Nicole Lamorlière and adoptive sister of Jeanne Valois, she discovered, thanks to Oscar, that her true mother was the person that she hated, the person that killed her adoptive mother, Lady de Polignac.

[edit] Living in poverty
This episode marks Rosalie's first appearance in the anime. Though most of the episode is about her sister Jeanne, Rosalie's mother hints at a greater secret relating to her "nobility".
In this episode Rosalie faces the prospects of her mother's medical condition worsening. She goes to her sister Jeanne for help with money to pay for food and medication but Jeanne rejects her and even has her whipped by her lover Nicolas. On her way home she meets Oscar for the first time; she tries to offer herself to Oscar as a prostitute, but Oscar rejects her and loans her some money.

When the Duke of Guemene was about to kill a little boy named Pierre for trying to pickpocket him. Rosalie appears and begged the Duke to forgive Pierre. The Duke of Germain accepts, but when he's about to leave, he shoots Pierre anyway, and he dies on the spot.

Rosalie desperately searches for work, and finally gets a job. Meanwhile, her mother is accidentally run over by the carriage of the Duchess de Polignac. When Nicole is agonizing, she confesses to Rosalie that her true mother is a noble called Martine Gabrielle. Rosalie, with the only desire to kill her mother's murderer, attempts to kill Oscar's mother as she mistakens her for the lady in the carriage. Oscar stops her and promises to help her find her mother's murderer.

Oscar's family takes Rosalie in. Oscar herself teaches Rosalie horse riding, fencing and the use of firearms. She also teaches Rosalie history, manners and improved Rosalie's lexicon.
[edit] Encounter with Charlotte
Oscar, Rosalie and André go to a party at the Madame Elizabeth mansion, which Rosalie also assists as Oscar's escort. All the guests are impressed because it was the first time that Oscar assisted to a party with a companion.
Charlotte, jealous of Rosalie who caught the attention of everybody, starts pestering Rosalie, asking repeteadly her about her origins. Rosalie, as a response to Charlotte's chidlish behavior, throws her fan at Charlotte and hits her on the face.
Then, Rosalie leaves the main room and goes to the hall and runs into Jeanne. Jeanne pretends that she don't know Rosalie, but Rosalie tells her that her mother has passed away.

Little Charlotte is engaged with the Duke de Guiche because of her mother, Lady de Polignac.
Meanwhile, Oscar and André, who were investigating the identity of Martine Gabrielle, finally find out that she was the woman that Rosalie hated, Lady de Polignac. Rosalie, accidentally hears the conversation between Oscar and André and decides to take matters into her own hands.
Rosalie prepares and ambushes Lady de Polignac, and when she was about to shoot her, Oscar arrives and stops Rosalie. Then, Oscar consoles and shows Rosalie Charlotte, who she would have hurt infinitely had she killed Lady Polignac.
After this, a party is held in the Palace of Versailles, wich Charlotte assists. After meeting in a room with her future husband, the Duke de Guiche, Charlotte loses her reason, and goes to the top of a high tower. The party guests go outside and watch as Charlotte falls to her death.
Rosalie, trying to maintain her composure, says that she never wished to know her sister and that having the same blood didn't mean they had to be friends, but as she faces Charlotte's dead body she is unable to control her emotions and sobs at the loss of her sister.

Rosalie has married the journalist Bernard Châtelet, an old friend of Oscar and André, and is seen as Marie-Antoinette's last confident, taking care of the former Queen until the day of her execution. In the last scene, she meets up with Oscar's friend Alain, and they speak about Oscar and what happened to her.
