Oţelu Roşu (1924: Ferdinandsberg) este un oraş din Judeţul Caraş-Severin, Banat România. Otelu Rosu is located on an alluvial terrace, at 268 m altitude, along the tectonic chute, through which Bistra river after jointing with Bistra Marului flows towards Timis. Poiana Rusca Mountains are located north of Bistra chute, to the south there are Tarcu Mountains with descendant slopes towards Muntele Mic, up to the town. The town is located in the north-eastern part of Caras-Severin County on DN 68 Hateg – Caransebes, its neighbors are Caransebes at 20 km distance and Hateg at 50 km. Otelu Rosu has as components Ciresa locality and Mal village. Bistra valley forms a well-known unit that makes the connection between Caransebes and Hateg depression areas. Bistra chute is fragmented by the slight slopes of Poiana Rusca woody mountains at N - NE, their heights do not surpass 500 m. Population: Otelu Rosu town includes Ciresa locality and the village Mal. The population of Otelu Rosu is of 12 814 inhabitants (2004). Industry: The main economic unit in Otelul Rosu town is the Siderurgic Factory Gavazzi and has as object of activity, the production of steel ingots, laminate flat products, laminate profiles, rails etc.
