[edit] "Special Tactics & Rescue SERVICE" not "Special Tactics & Rescue SQUAD"
Really, we're getting sick of having to revert changes by people editing "Service" for "Squad". In the videogames it IS "Special Tactics and Rescue SERVICE". It may be different in the books and movie but that is NON-CANON. Hell, check the PICTURE OF THE STARS BADGE in the article, which comes from Resident Evil. Whats that say? SERVICE. - Amen to that. I've changed it back and I've seen it changed back many times in the past couple of months. Unfortunately, it seems the Bots also modify the S.T.A.R.S. logo to represent 'Squad' instead of 'Service', too. Is there anything that can be done about that, or perhaps we can simply put (Special Tactics And Rescue Squad - non-canon unit represented the RE movies) after it. - Actually, it seems even Capcom has used "squad" a few times as well, and I can count a few instances in the games. In fact, if you have the Resident Evil remake, you can go ahead and check the back of the case. If you don't have it, I'll go ahead and quote the back word for word...

- Actually, no it's not incorrect as that's not canon. The back of the box and the design ISN'T written by the game developers (just like "squad" in the novels). Everything ACTUALLY IN THE GAMES refers to it as "service". SERVICE is the only canon word. It's only used as SERVICE in the original Japanese as well. Parjay 23:56, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

STARS was founded in 1996 according to the Resident Evil Archives (which in turn was translated from the Japanese Biohazard Archives). This is the canonical info from the developers (Capcom of Japan) themselves. U.S. site states otherwise because their timeline was fan-written and the author based his info on the novels (which contradicts the game's canon on several instances). - I moved the page. Whether or not the A forms part of the acronym, conventional English and WP:NCP specify that "and" should not be capitalized, as with "or" "for" or other such prepositions and conjunctions. Teke(talk) 00:37, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

- All articles, including this one, direct to the most common, popular or familiar object or group affiliated with that name. Truth be told, there aren't going to be that many people wanting to learn about the Jefferson County S.T.A.R.S. team in New York. However, the number of people who look up Resident Evil and its supporting articles on Wikipedia cannot be overstated, the games are immensely popular, and therefore hold the priviledged position. That's just the way it works. Besides, I've also categorised and linked all of the true S.T.A.R.S. and S.T.A.R. teams at the bottom of this article so that they get their due. Not only that, but I recently created this page instead of allowing it to simply redirect. I'd say I've covered the bases fairly well. Gamer Junkie 14:29, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Your explanation is not convictive enough to me but I don't care because nobody cares if that page is redirected accurately right. Don't worry. I won't do any editing fight with nobody. But what caused me to ask before is the starting of this article. The Special Tactics and Rescue Service is a fictional law-enforcing task force... I thought the same before but then I found there is real life S.T.A.R.S. So it's not fictional as the words says. I suggest that the sentence could be modified a little to eliminate the exclusivity. - The S.T.A.R.S. team featured in this article is fictional, and it must be made clear that this is the case. As I've already mentioned, the real S.T.A.R.S. teams - and their real-life status - have already been mentioned below with links to their respective articles. There is nothing here that hasn't already been addressed. I'm sorry if you don't find my argument convincing, but that's the way things have to be to avoid confusion. - The real thing mentioned below doesn't change the delusion made at the start. But I'm not telling you to make people known there is real thing in the first place. Just a little modification can solve the problem. Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.)...is a fictional law-enforcing task force... Because the R.P.D. is fictional, its tactical unit is also fictional, of course. [edit] Rebecca Chambers' status
I have changed Recbecca's status to "undetermined" for the reason we only know that she had Ñsurvived in Resident Evil 0 and in the mansion incident in Resident Evil 1. However, we do not know of her current status since that time. It has been printed in the "Resident Evil Archives" book by Bradly Games that Rebecca was killed off by Nemesis in Resident Evil 3. Although, this factor is not displayed in the game. But according to the book, and regardless of the many mis-prints or errors in the book, (English version only) the book was said to be written with the information directly from the Resident Evil team and its creators. *.:.`ShadowFox` S.T.A.R.S..:.* 08:17, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Again, just because it's not featured in the game doesn't mean it's not true about the character. Chris Redfield's official background is from the novel Resident Evil: The Beginning. But that is just about Chris. As for misprints, sure, there are some misprints in the Resident Evil Archives book, but they are of mostly just misspelled words and names. Just because a word or name is spelled incorrectly in a book doesn't mean the information provided is incorrect as well. A lot of people say that it's an error in the English version but there is no proof of this. I like Rebecca as well, but until there is proof that it is in fact an error, it will stay "undetermined" to favor both sides. - Sigh. The proof is in the damn book, read Biohazard Archives. Biohazard Archives: "Rebecca Chambers". Resident Evil Archives: "Rebecca Chambers (Dead)" - it's quite obviously an error considering a. it doesn't appear in the Japanese (written by Capcom officials), and b. the amount of translation and errors throughout the English translation (by a third party non-Capcom translation company). It is apparent that is clearly states that Rebecca is deceased by the time Resident Evil 3 in the English version of the Archives. Most people can view the English version more than the Japanese version since it is available here more in North American, than the Japanese version. Plus, not a lot of people can read or understand the Japanese language. Until this fact can be proven by a realible source and can be cited about Rebecca's status, it shall remain "undetermined". - Sorry, the proof from capcom as you say is in the book they wrote, BA, not the 3rd party translation. Biohazard Archives is the SOURCE, remember that - it's up to you to disprove. Per wiki, it has to be left with the original source. Parjay 19:43, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- The same character relationship chart which prints Rebecca's status as "deceased" also ommits that deceased status for Joseph. So, should we consider Joseph to be "alive", even though he was mauled to death by zombie dogs. On a side note, the translation of Resident Evil Archives is probably one of the shoddiest editorial works I've ever seen. As far as the games are concerned, she was alive as of RE2 and never mentioned again after that. Jonny2x4 23:16, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Just a minor thing I've altered, while It's true Bravo team is the lesser of the two teams, Bravo Team had quite a few experienced members this is balanced though with some members lacking combat experience and others being Rookies, basing the point that Alpha Team had more experience because all of Bravo Team were killed (bar one member) isn't right considering most of Bravo team survived a full 24 hours before Alpha team arrived without any prior knowledge as to what was going on. (At least Alpha Team had Wesker secretly pulling their strings) Also some Bravo Members died saving members of Alpha Team or Murdered for knowing too much. -Apemantus 02:27, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- I don't believe that they were the "lesser" of the two teams. Bravo had younger and more inexperienced members, also members who were officially rearguard support, such as medics and comms officers, who were not supposed to take primary roles during combat operations. Alpha's team was comprised almost entirely (barring Vickers) of frontline law enforcement officers who were hired specifically for action and combat roles, and had prior experience in similar positions, such as the military and SWAT. If the roles were reversed, and Alpha went in one day earlier than Bravo, who's to say things wouldn't have turned out the same way? In any case, S.T.A.R.S. was a combination of a specialised rescue team and an elite police unit, and it would seem Bravo would be better suited to the former, while Alpha would be suited to the latter. That doesn't make Bravo "less" than Alpha. Gamer Junkie 10:39, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
