Well, thanks! - I'm usually busy @ the German speaking Wikipedia and contributed about 30 articles within a month but nobody has welcomed me so far... Anyway, the English Wikipedia ist much more advanced and I wish to do more here rather then there. --Scriberius 20:50, 2005 Jan 29 (UTC)
Hi, and thanks for your contributions to the Isan article. However, please please don't keep capitalising compass directions- there's no need for this in English! Mark1 00:28, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Howdy Khoon Markalexander100! I was pretty shure that there is a regulation (like Thursday) to do so but if you (as a teacher) say so - OK & sorry. I'm going ahead and restore it then. --Scriberius 00:56, 2005 Feb 10 (UTC)
- Hi. Re the sede vacante image. It came from the Vatican website. Of course, you can't copyright an ancient coat of arms, so copyright's not an issue, jguk 15:47, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Heya, thanks - that sounds reasonable. It might be older than 70 years. Scriberius 16:40, 2005 Apr 10 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome
Welcome to Wikipedia. In response to your changes to Hofbräuhaus, I wanted to let you know about some formatting issues,
- We always use the serial comma when giving lists (no: apples, oranges and bananas; yes: apples, oranges, and bananas).
- Try to stick with the second largest header in articles (that is, use ==Header== instead of =Header=)
Thanks for adding to the article! If you're looking for a project, we are always looking for knowledgeable help at Wikipedia:Wikiproject Beer. --Sean κ. ⇔ 01:42, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for your notice. OK, I will follow those formatting rules in the future. Reg. the serial comma: I've had 10 years of English and using a comma after the word and is new to me. The numerational comma replaces the and between elements in a sentence. So "your" way of writing '..., and ... is needless and duplicates the meaning of and. "apples, oranges, and bananas" leads to "apples and oranges and and bananas". Hmm, maybe that's a variant of the US-american English. I'm sure you haven't invented that...but that's just my P.O.V. It's cool that you guys have a Wikiproject for beer - I'll give it a look! Anyway, cheers! Scriberius 12:23, 2005 Apr 19 (UTC)
- Very perceptive about the comma... its use doesn't exactly fall on national boundaries. For example, the New York Times does not use that extra comma, but books published by the Oxford University Press do. Really, there is no agreement anywhere. The decision to use that extra comma was the result of a huge argument on this Wikipedia, the final style guide is at Wikipedia:Manual of Style. —Sean κ. ⇔ 14:17, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Alright then :) Scriberius 14:25, 2005 Apr 19 (UTC)
[edit] External links of airlines
Hi Scriberius - I noticed you keep changing airline external links from the main site (eg www.airbaltic.lv to the English version (eg www.airbaltic.com/public/index.html?language=1). I deliberately use the main site as it is substantially less likely to be altered and thus become a broken link. The links you are putting in are very prone to alteration and becoming broken. Also it is easy for the user to switch to the English version once on the site - they may not always be English users. Also in External Links in airlines you also keep putting in "Official Site" rather than the airline name. I don't understand this - surely users know what an External Link is. I'm just trying to keep some consistency as I have added hundreds of airline articles and stubs. Ardfern 20:36, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Howdy, ok I'll keep the URL citation in mind. Reg. the description of a link, I find it useless if www.lufthansa.com in an article is described as Lufthansa - that's for shure anyway. It's better to describe it as an official site. To prevent an edit war, I will not edit "your" style of describing an external link anymore OK?! Scriberius 14:06, 2005 Apr 26 (UTC)

You have the image Image:Cowbell2.gif on your user page; this image is copyrighted and used in the Will Ferrell article under Wikipedia:Fair use. [edit] Featured article for December 25th
I noticed that you have listed yourself as an atheist Wikipedian. You will probably be interested to know that Brian0918 has nominated Omnipotence paradox as the front page article for December 25th. You can vote on this matter here. The other suggestion being supported by others for that date is Christmas, although Raul654 has historically been against featuring articles on the same day as their anniversary/holiday. Ich hatte die Antwort seinerzeit durchaus gelesen; und was jetzt in der deutschen wiki passiert...nun, muss ich erwähnen, dass mich das nicht wirklich überrascht? [edit] Washington State University
I noticed that you put a link to [[de:University of Washington]] into the Washington State University article. I don't know if that was an honest mistake, a horrid misunderstanding, or purely evil vandalism (us Washington State Cougars are not too friendly with the Washington Huskies), but I thought I'd point it out to you. Try not to make that mistake again, OK? :) Have a nice day, though. Happy editing! (Oh, and if you want to put the link in the proper article, you can go to University of Washington.) [edit] Moving images to the Commons
For images with the same name in the Commosn please use {{NowCommonsThis}} or {{NCT}} instead of {{NowCommons}} or {{NC}}. That marks them as "easy" move if there's an admin willing to spend some time to actually delete these images. --Denniss 02:51, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

Hallo Matthias,
wie ich sehe schreibst Du Stubs von Artikeln, die in anderer Sprache verfasst sind. Machst Du dies auch von Englischer bzw. Französischer Sprache in Deutsch? Ich hätte da ein paar Artikellisten. z.B: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Eastern_Christianity-related_topics

[edit] Visa (document)
I have just moved your additions to this article to the talk page. I absolutely agree that the content needs to be in the article but the language needs tidying up to match the rest of the article before it goes in. Otherwise that section really stands out from the rest of the text. Hopefully, I will have time to do this tomorrow. Please feel free to revert me if you disagree.
-
- PS Most people reading the article will think of a paper visa when they think of visas so I have returned the image of the paper visa back to the top of the article
Cheers

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Ecumenical Patriarchate.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ecumenical Patriarchate.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hello,
Thank you for your stub submission. You may wish to note that it is preferable to use a stub template from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types instead of using simply {{stub}}, if you can.
Thanks!Eli Falk 12:42, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

- You might also like to know that the article is up for deletion, and will probably be deleted within a few days. The problem is that it is extremely short, and provides no helpful material beyond the definition. Please see Wikipedia is not a dictionary. If you can add to the article, please feel free to remove the proposed deletion tag. -Patstuart(talk)(contribs) 21:02, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Missing image?
Hello, I trust I am writing to he who is also known as Mattes, on the Wikimedia Commons. A few days ago, I noticed that an image (David gegen Goliath.jpg) had disappeared from an article (Sling (weapon)). I eventually tracked the image to your gallery #13, where I see you uploaded three images concerned with David and Goliath. Two images remain, one was removed apparently due to lack of a license. I have found another copy of that image on Wikipedia (Image:DavidAndGoliath.jpg) but it is of very poor quality. Might I ask you to upload your version of that image again, with proper licensing?
Thanks! — SWWrightTalk 10:09, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- I guess you mean Image:David gegen Goliath.jpg @ commons (the original pic has gone). The pic ist still in the article. I've put a no source tag into the commons file. Scriberius 13:45, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
