Skerik (née Eric Walton) is a saxophone player from Seattle, Washington. Performing on the tenor and baritone saxophone often with electronics and loops, Skerik is a pioneer in a playing style that has been dubbed saxophonics. He is a founding member of Critters Buggin and Garage a Trois and has performed with Les Claypool's Frog Brigade (2001) and Fancy Band (2006), Buckethead, Stanton Moore, Galactic, Fred Wesley, The Rhythm Section, Ponga, Sadhappy, Tuatara (with Peter Buck), Mad Season, The Headhunters, Roger Waters and many others. He has recently led Skerik's Syncopated Taint Septet. Also, he has tapped long-time duomates Brian Coogan (organ/keyboards) and Simon Lott (drums) for a band dubbed "Maelstrom Trio," combining disparate elements such as free jazz, funk, metal and textural music. In March 2007, he tours with Mike Dillon and New Orlean's Jazz bassist James Singleton as The Illuminasty Trio. He has also appeared with The Meters spinoff band the Funky Meters.
