Specialized Bicycle Components is a major manufacturer of bicycles and bicycle equipment, based in Morgan Hill, California.

Specialized was Founded in 1974 by Mike Sinyard, and initially produced the Allez racing and Sequoia touring bicycle bicycles. In 1981, the company introduced the first mass-produced mountain bike, the Stumpjumper.

Today, the company produces a variety of gear, including clothing, helmets, and parts, in addition to over 25 lines of bikes. They range from cheaper models such as the Rockhopper and the children's Hotrock up to the expensive S-Works for road and cross-country riding; and the Demo for serious Freeride and downhill.

Many riders in recent years have used Specialized bicycles in the North American and Europian pro cycling circuit. Currently,Team Gerolsteiner and Quick Step-Innergetic are riding the Tarmac (a full carbon road bike) in the Tour de France. Team Gerolsteiner equips their bikes with Shimano components while Quick Step-Innergetic uses Campagnolo components
The company has equipped many successful athletes, including: Manuel Höchbauer, the Bavarian cyclist (Team Parsberg) who has several times been the German HC champion.

Specialized have come a long way from the first mass produced mountain bike. Today they make one of the most advanced full-suspension bikes on the market, using their Patented FSR Technology.
