Stamford F.C.

Stamford AFC are an English association football team based in Stamford, currently playing in the Southern League Premier Division. They play at the Vic Couzens Stadium (which has a strong claim to be the oldest standing stadium in the world[citation needed]) Their nickname is The Daniels, in references to Daniel Lambert, the reputed fattest man in English history, who is buried in the town.
The team were relegated from the Southern League Premier Division at the end of 2004/05 season after recording only 6 wins. After finishing 5th in the Southern League Division One East the Daniels won the play-offs by beating Wivenhoe Town 2-0 in the final and are now back in the Southern League Premier Division
In 1913-14 season Stamford had their best run in the FA Cup when they made the 5th Qualifying Round.
