Talk:SWAT 4

About when the player is allowed to use lethal force (where he won't loose points for it), I believe a kill is only allowed when the suspect is about to open fire or is shooting - you are not simply allowed to shout at the suspect them kill him.

[edit] Vengeance Engine
Check the Irrational Games website as well as online interviews, and you will see that Irrational actually created the "Vengeance Engine" for Tribes: Vengeance from the Unreal Engine. The same Vengeance Engine was used for Swat 4. Tyler 15:23, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Clans and Ladders?
Is this necessary? It seems almost like advertising to me.... ViperBite 23:09, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I would remove that. Thunderbrand 18:58, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- Clans and ladders are as much a part of any game as players are. I don't see how that seems like advertising. 68.46.139.216 05:43, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Popularity Dieing
i think it's neccessary to suggest the massive loss of fanbase on SWAT 4. still a fairly moderate fanbase in America and smaller in germany , but in Australia for example , it's pretty much dead. i think this is due to the lack of support and lack of mods , let alone general problems with SWAT 4 . SWAT 3's popularity on the other hand continued for years , well into the 2000's. this being said though , SWAT 4 was released at a time where it would be in the shadow of hugely hyped games such as Half-Life 2 and Battlefield 2.
- This game never had a really large fanbase to begin with anyways, so it's not too surprising how it died. Your theory is correct, but it has no place in this article. Let's not add that. - XX55XX 23:46, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

- Can I just clear something up, yes there are fewer mods than many other games, but SWAT does have an active Modding Community if you were to go to the VUForums>SWAT>SWAT 4>Modifications you'll find that there are quite a few mods for this game, and people are continuing to make more. 68.46.139.216 05:41, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

- It may have an active modding community, but I haven't seen a great many mods out despite a released SDK. Custom maps online are nearly non-existant. There are less than 250 people online in the evening. Many other games have similiar fortunes as well, and it is not really worth mentioning in this article. - XX55XX 23:44, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

- As a game with alot of public servers and players, it's almost dead. Public multiplayer is not what makes this game in the first place, it's more popular to just get a few guys togheter on a TeamSpeak- channel and play a few rounds of CO-OP on a private server. 217.211.211.182 15:25, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "If the officer is injured but not killed.."?
In the demo officers can't die( They can only become 'incapatated') (you can unload an an entire clip of AP Ammo on an Injured officer's head to test this) are you guys sure they can die in the game? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.140.194.104 (talk) 14:08, 17 March 2007 (UTC).
Yeah, that's right. Kind of weird though, but they would have needed more voice actors to play those of the replacement SWAT members.
