Public house

Public houses (better known as pubs) are buildings that serve alcoholic drinks, to be consumed on-place. Very often, they also sell food. Pubs are the center of public life, especially in villages. Pubs are found in English-speaking countries, mostly.
If the pub offers an opportunity to sleep (ie. it lets rooms), it is usually called an inn.
